Started yoga as a beginner going through a tough time in life. Found healing and wholeness. The most heartwarming generous happy place for meditation.

I can't say enough positive things about this yoga and meditation venue. I arrived in Asheville with such a heavy weight on my shoulders. Upon my very first arrival at ACY, I was greeted beautifully as well as escorted throughout the establishment with a thorough explanation of the grounds. Every instructor I've had has been incredible. I even enjoy the karma cafe which offers fantastic vegan food!! Love love ACY

Asheville Community Yoga is a welcoming, warm home for so many people in Asheville--myself included. When I moved to Asheville from San Diego four years ago, I wanted to nestle into a new studio where I could return to my practice, but found that many of the studios around town were inaccessible to me because of their price point. I remember scouring the ACY website in advance for pricing, and when it wasn't presented numerically, I nervously asked when I arrived for my first class. When they said it was a "pay what you can" system, my brain stalled--I couldn't even comprehend that this class wouldn't cost me $20, and that it could cost me as little as $5. ACY breaks down the assumptions around yoga--that it's expensive, or pretentious, or inaccessible--and makes it available to everyone. They even provide mats (like, GOOD mats) so that everyone is able to practice. Over the years, ACY has been such a resource for me, physically, mentally, and spiritually. And as a freelancer, it's been such a relief that my donation can float with my income--sometimes more, sometimes less, always given with gratitude. Over the past four years, I've taken classes with many of the instructors--here are my favorites: Michael: His sequences are always, always, always the same, which allows you to really sink into the practice. I like his warm, 1.5 hour classes because they're the right kind of tough and he gets into your soul with irreverence, humor, and genuineness. Kelly B: Her Friday evening class is the perfect way to let go of the tensions from the week, and she's got such good, positive vibes. Emily: Emily's sequences are always some of my favorites, and her Sunday classes are the perfect length and way to close out the weekend. Wendy: Wendy is a bad***--her core class is intenseeee, and I've never left one of her classes feeling like I didn't get a workout. Also, good tunes! I've also taken wonderful classes with Dana and Ryan. The mission of ACY is so inspiring, and it's been such a gift to get to watch as the studio has grown over the past four years. I can't wait to see what the next four hold!

I absolutely LOVE Asheville Community Yoga! This is such a fantastic organization and truly, a great community. I recently visited Asheville Community Yoga for the first time after purchasing a Groupon deal. And I am so glad that I bought it and finally went in because from the instant I walked in the door, I felt welcome. The space is gorgeous and clean and the staff/volunteers all have smiles on their faces. There are three yoga studios as well as a merchandise shop, a small thrift shop and an awesome vegetarian cafe. Asheville Community Yoga is super inviting and has classes for everyone. They do Kirtan once a month and they also have classes for people with cancer, for pregnant women, and everything ranging from gentle flow yoga, to hot yoga, to mindfulness meditation, to acupuncture, to Qigong. This place is really special.

Extremely affordable with a true commitment to giving back to the community. There is no excuse to stay home since classes are plentiful. Convenience is important and it's in between Weaverville and Asheville. I'd like more offerings for hot yoga and a bit more personal coaching but all in all I'm a fan.

My girlfriend and I come here for the massage by Meredith. She is excellent in understanding just what your body needs to restore and she makes you feel at ease with her kind and friendly personality.

This place is amazing. My young adult daughter introduced me to Asheville Community Yoga, and I am so much happier and healthier to have found it. Such positive energy. Community beaded. It's spit-spot. And accessible to all. Truly amazing. THANK YOU.

Yummy!!! Their kitchari is absolutely delicious and what a big portion size! The prominent taste of cinnamon is so comforting. I love Asheville Community Yoga for creating this wonderful cafe. Their efforts have paid off! Their food is affordable and really tasty. Can't wait to try more.

One of the reasons I decided to make Asheville my new hometown after all my travels: cOMmUNITY!!! This yoga studio is much more than ::just:: asana. It is a place for anyone and everyone to come, feel at home and recharge their souls. I am so very grateful for the teachers, staff and fellow yogis that I've had the pleasure of meeting here. Classes are donation based, and if someone truly cannot afford to donate $$, they are still welcome and accepted just like anyone else who walks through the doors. Mats are free of charge, and the space is so well taken care of. It's probably one of the cleanest yoga studios I have ever been to. Happy to call Asheville home, and for this studio to be a part of my local community. Thank you ACY!

Mary led a fantastic Yoga Nidra class. This is the most amazing yoga center that I have been to since I started practicing in 1970. They really capture the true spirit of yoga. You can just show up - there are mats available as well as bolsters, blankets, blocks and more. If I live in Asheville, I would be a regular!

This is the second time I've visited this donation-based studio while visiting Asheville and both times I've had an amazing experience. The folks that work and volunteer at this yoga studio are helpful and welcoming. We didn't have any yoga supplies with us (no mats, blocks, etc.) and that was no problem they had everything we needed available to borrow for our class. It was a very smooth check-in and donation process. We were also really pleased with how many classes they offer throughout the day. It made planning to get in a yoga class a lot easier! This visit we did a vinyasa class and really enjoyed our instructor, the class, and the space. I'll be back again the next time I'm in town for sure. After the class we enjoyed checking out their thrift store area, art, etc.

I recently moved to Asheville and was feeling lost in a small city. I always wanted to take a yoga class but was intimidated by the young, beautiful participants and the yoga centers. Being a senior on a limited budget, I didn't want to buy a mat without trying a class or pay a lot for a class. I did an internet search and read about the different places in Asheville. Asheville Community Yoga caught my attention. I went to my first Yoga for Seniors class in January and fell in love with the space, the teachers, classmates, community and the donation based price. It's a very welcoming place to belong.

6 Stars is what this place deserves!! I love the emphasis placed on being a sanctuary for the community. Love all that you offer and how much you care to build the community up. Classes for everyone no matter if you're looking for a more vigorous workout or a calming relaxing inward flow, this place has it all. Best of all the staff are so helpful & extremely cordial. :)
