Our U-boxes were shipped cross country to arrive at this Uhaul location. An unforseen issue came up with the delivery driver to delay our delivery, and Morgan, who handled the final delivery, went above and beyond to insure we got our U-boxes before Christmas. She truly went the extra mile. We also dealt with Valarie here regarding a billing issue and she was also quick to help us resolve this matter. Based on our dealings here we would recommend this location as they really showed us great customer service.

By far one of the better Uhaul locations I’ve encountered. Staff was engaged and provided quality service. I recommend this location for AVL area rentals and storage.

My recent encounter with U-Haul's U-Boxes service has been nothing short of a frustrating and disappointing ordeal. After renting six U-Boxes for a time-sensitive relocation, the entire experience turned into a logistical nightmare. To begin with, two of the U-Boxes were inexplicably lost during transit, causing significant delays and uncertainty about the whereabouts of my belongings. This alone created undue stress and inconvenience, as I was counting on a timely arrival at my new location. When the shipment finally arrived, the troubles didn't cease. Despite assurances of timely delivery, U-Haul failed to meet their promised schedule. Furthermore, their explanation for not delivering the boxes to my address due to purported size limitations on the road was perplexing and contradictory. It was asserted that the road was unsuitable for their trucks, despite similar vehicles traversing the same route regularly. This discrepancy between U-Haul's claims and the reality of everyday traffic on the road raises serious questions about their logistics and operational integrity. It seems evident that U-Haul's U-Boxes service is not a priority within their business model, resulting in inadequate handling and poor communication throughout the process. Regrettably, this experience has left me deeply dissatisfied and distrustful of U-Haul's U-Boxes service. The mishandling of shipments, lack of timely delivery, and perplexing excuses about road size limitations all contribute to a substantial failure on their part. I would strongly advise anyone considering this service to explore alternative options to avoid potential logistical hassles and disappointments. To their credit, they did pay for the unloading of the U-Boxes at their facility into trucks by a College Hunks Hauling Junk to deliver my belongings to my home. Ironically, the truck used to deliver my belongings was larger than their flatbed that they claimed could not deliver my U-Boxes. In conclusion, the entire experience with U-Haul U-Boxes has been riddled with inefficiencies and inadequate service. The company's handling of both the loading and receiving ends of the rental process has been subpar, leaving a trail of inconvenience and frustration.

If you have an alternative I'd suggest highly that you USE that alternative to this U-Haul location on Sweeten Creek Road - negative stars are worthy not one. I was literally bullied right out of the door by the person in charge and with determination just shy of being violent. I Scheduled an appointment 3 weeks out. First employee said it didn't exist. I showed her my confirmation and rather than provide even the slightest degree of "I'm sorry for the confusion b/w corporate and our franchise," she turned it around and became angry with me for having the nerve to be a little surprised and a little shocked having taken a day off of work to accommodate the four hour appointment. She then summoned her manager who immediately took issue with me rather than provide the slightest modicum of customer service. He demanded I leave, and then when I was typing in my review in the parking lot he then again proceeded to chastise me and I dare say threaten me to leave his parking lot. I am not a person who ascribes to "the customer is always right," but yes to "the customer is always the customer." All I wanted was a degree of accountability and I wound up being roughed up and tossed. I have filed a complaint with corporate and it's going straight up to the president of marketing who will be phoning me within a few days, which I'm glad to hear. It is Uhaul's prerogative on how they'd like to proceed with these people, and if they receive sharp reprimand, rarely in my 56 years alive would I believe any other is more deserved than this one. Say no to U-Haul on Sweeten Creek Road.

Exploitative. The attendant did not agree to do the check out process with us present (we did ask him to do that), and just wanted to take our keys and email us our receipt - it felt very disorganized and rushed. 5 hours later I received an email "receipt" that said we returned the truck on nearly empty (which was not the case, we returned it at the same level we received it at) and $75 in associated charges!! Under the space for my signature, it says "mobile contract close" even though I NEVER saw this "contract" before it arrived in my email. TAKE A PICTURE OF YOUR FUEL GAUGE BEFORE LEAVING AND INSIST ON AN IN PERSON OR IN APP CHECKOUT - do NOT just leave them your keys. It really feels like this was taking advantage of the customer by not allowing us to complete the checkout process in-person and then marking the fuel gauge as way lower than it was. I've called Uhaul and the location multiple times trying to get this resolved, but no luck so far. After spending thousands of dollars on a Uhaul for this cross-country move, we were VERY careful to return the truck with the exact same amount of fuel that we received it with, and we are extremely disappointed and surprised to see this charge.

My interaction with the customer service person was great. She was very helpful and professional. The truck I rented, while not terribly dirty, had a couple of plastic wrappers in the console. The cab was dusty and the back had not been swept after the previous use. The vehicle had high miles, was a little rattley, and something felt a little off with the steering. I believe it was a local rental only and is probably approaching the end of its service life. The vehicle wasn't terrible and served its purpose.

I reserved a van that showed as available online at a time that work best for me. Next morning, I got a notification that my reservation was moved to the Swannanoa River Rd location. I called customer service - first interaction was perfect, I got transferred to the Asheville scheduling line. I explained the problem - I didn't want to drive 6 extra miles x 2 trips and pay for them when a truck was reserved and promised to me at this location. There was no resolution, so I state I am unhappy with the situation and lack of options offered. The scheduler snaps and answers "what do you want me to do, dude??" and starts audibly getting frustrated. I brought the temperature down in the call and replayed what I thought was being offered to me, which had been poorly explained. He (the scheduler) confirms and then says goodbye frustrated. If this were my company, I would fire customer-facing personnel that does not treat customers that bring revenue professionally and respectfully.

Made a reservation for a trailer, called this morning to confirm, and the staff decided to leave 2 hours before closing. Didn't even bother to call me prior to bailing out on me.

Scheduled a hitch install on the 25th of July, they said the parts didn’t arrive. Scheduled me for a week later. Then before the install they claimed the wiring hadn’t arrived (still have the voicemail from that one). They scheduled me two weeks later. This time I drop the truck off early. Didn’t hear anything for hours, so I called the facility and the employee is apologizing for not being at work. So I ask if my install is going to happen and he says that he will do it if I bring it in right now. Well, I had to inform him my truck had been there for about 5 hours. He then calls back an hour later and says the hitch is bent and he can’t install it, but he will order parts and have them express shipped. Days go by and no response, so I call again and the employees at the facility say the parts have been there, but nobody told me. But the hitch guy has lost his phone? And they have no more information to give me? Maybe tomorrow? And can’t even give a clear date when they could install it. What does that even mean?So I ask for a refund. They say they’ll have to “review my case.” I think after spending $500 for a hitch install and driving out 3 separate occasions over the span of a month I should be refunded. This has cost time and business given I needed the hitch for my work.

Sweeten creek location in Avl: I was in a pinch and needed a pickup or cargo van “right now” — I live right around the corner and called in a panic to see if one was available. A nice woman held a van for me, helped me zip through the rental process and I was able to pick up what I needed to right away. Super friendly staff and easy process — greatly appreciated!!

I have contacted corporate several times and have been told this location would return my calls and they haven’t. They don’t care about you other than taking your money. Don’t waste your time here.
