Love this spot! 75 years strong and no sign of slowing down!

Hands down, the best BBQ and chicken I have ever had! I live 2 hours from them and still make the drive as often as I can. Nothing we have local even comes close!

Great example of Eastern NC barbecue as it's supposed to be done.

Pete Jones bbq some the best around. Anyone who hasn't tried it should, and they will make a return trip. The Bbq is moist, and you can see, and here it being chopped up while you eat.

The tea, food and the sauce were really good. They don’t give you as much meat as they give you sides, but it was still great. They have a big reputation and it was packed but I was not blown away or anything. Just good old quality southern barbecue. Also, the cornbread was thin and harder—old school style!

I have waited years to make my way to Skylight Inn and try their world famous barbecue! It was definitely worth the hype. In my opinion, this is the best barbecue I've ever had in my life and met every expectation I had for it. I got the basic barbecue slaw and cornbread and it was all perfection! Definitely worth the trip from Raleigh! Can't wait to go back!!

This visit was a long time coming and we finally crossed it off our bucket list! My partner saw Skylight featured on a Munchies episode years ago and has since then tried hard to find a reason to go to NC to try it, so we figured why not just make a whole trip just for Skylight! It's a bit of a drive from Raleigh/Durham where we were staying but a nice way to get a mini road trip in. We really appreciated that they stay so true to the Carolina bbq method and walking around you can see the piles and piles of wood they use for smoking. We both got the whole hog bbq tray with cornbread and coleslaw and the banana pudding. Love the bbq and both sauces are uniquely delicious!! The sides were ok, cornbread was yum when hot but a bit oily when cold and the coleslaw had a bit of a strange texture to me, almost like it was pre-chewed, but just my interpretation. The banana pudding is very sweet, but nice to round out the meal.

They serve really good Bar-becue pork. Reasonable prices. But customer's service need a lot of work. NO Customer's should ever be address or called BUDDY. This is very offense and Not professional.

My friends and I drove two hours to visit Skylight Inn BBQ and had a great experience. No frills place and the people were very nice. The chicken and pork were very good. I loved the vinegar sauce. The corn bread I got was very thin/hard (not pictured), but the one my friend got was nice and fluffy. Definitely worth trying.

Visited in October 2014. Loved their passion about BBQ, and loved their food. It is still a family-owned restaurant that has been cooking whole hog barbecue over wood since 1947. Simple BBQ with modest prices.

Best Q in ENC. I won't buy a drink because it comes in styrofoam or plastic but the rest of it comes in paper. Ditch the plastic!
