The Bald Head Island Conservancy does stellar work to preserve the island, especially for the turtles. It is a neat stop, particularly for children, featuring an interactive sandbox, a media center, and live animals like yellow-belly turtles to look at. The staff are polite and provide great information and education. Families can enjoy a scavenger hunt created by the Conservancy to explore the beautiful island. Witnessing turtle hatchings is an unforgettable experience, which can sometimes be seen on a simple stroll on the beach or by following the excavation schedule. The Conservancy is a great resource for turtle education and safety and for keeping the island amazing.
Love the conservancy and all the work they do for the island. They don't have a lot in way of animals: frogs snails, couple snakes, tortoises, but it's educational and awareness driven. It's worth a little pop-un and a small donation if you wish.

Awesome animal exhibit and fun scavenger hunt. The ladies in the gift shop were super nice and shared some island sightseeing locations with us. :)
