Engaging instructor with real life experience. Focused on safety and I live with "Mr. Safety". Before I went to the range I was confident in my ability to be safe handling a gun. Yes, I rented, no I had not shot a revolver or hand gun in 30 years so was nervous. Charlie and his wife as a team make sure you are comfortable and able to pass. Worth every penny and every minute spent getting trained. Now as for Charlie bad dad jokes, just grin and laugh!

Charlie Mayo has a knack for teaching. He is very informative and really has a heart for making sure people are trained to defend themselves in a safe and responsible manner. I went in thinking I was going to be lectured and pushed out the door when it was finished, but he made the class funny with his jokes and fun with his mannerisms while giving examples of things while keeping the balance of how serious this class should be taken. He even let us stay after to ask questions and just talk about our lives. He is an excellent teacher and kind-hearted human being. His wife is the same way and gave moral support to a nervous classmate. She was the cherry on top of making this class feel more like a family.An added bonus is that the classroom doubles as a store that has everything you need, from storage options down to cleaning tools. The course also comes complimentary with free mints, too. :)

Extremely well organized and professional instruction. The class was taught in such a manner that was both highly interesting and informative. Mr. Mayo was able to bring out student interaction on the importance of gun safety and laws. I would highly recommend this class to anyone required to complete this gun safety course. An absolutely rewarding experience!

Charlie is a fantastic instructor!! He made the class fun and enjoyable while being informative and thorough. His wife Tina is also amazing! I was nervous being that I have never shot a gun and she made me feel comfortable and confident! I really could not have asked for a better experience and left feeling a sense of comfort knowing I could protect myself if needed. You cannot put a price on peace of mind when it comes to my life or the lives of the ones I love which was provided to me today.I highly recommend Carolina Concealment & Defense!!

Charlie Mayo was a fantastic instructor, both in the classroom and on the range. I took the concealed carry class 15 years ago, and Charlie was so much more informative and had a wonderful way of getting the points and the seriousness of these matters across, and at the same time made it very enjoyable. I would recommend anyone take his class!

First and foremost, wow! is all I have to say. I was not just looking for a CCH class. When I did my research I was looking for an experience for not just me but my son and I. Whether you’re a first time concealed carry permitee, renewing or coming into the state of North Carolina I highly recommend Carolina concealment and defense. The classes here are smaller but that is by design. I am confident that they do not do this for the money. They do this to share the knowledge, safety and what you really need to know in the state of North Carolina. Could they have a class of 20 to 25 people like you’ll see most classes in Eastern North Carolina…..yes. But, it’s an experience among friends atmosphere which made it that much better!
Do your research, listen to ratings and what people have to say. Although my son and I drove an hour it was worth the drive. The experience we had would not have been had anywhere else. Charlie and Tina are salt of the earth type of folks. They are the kind of people that you will add to your Christmas card list. Not only that, they know their stuff. I’ve been around guns since I was in my early 20s even through the Marine Corps. However, I actually learned a little more about certain things. All I can say it was a fantastic.
