We were trying to find this based on the address and could not. We went to the Slope View Cafe for breakfast and heard the server tell another table "we are renting this space at night for Alpen Restaurant." There is no way we would've known that had we not overheard. So we had breakfast and lunch at this location. Both were very good. I had the pecan crusted trout and it was amazing. We would definitely go back. The service was wonderful each time.

Great food, great service, and a great view! Definitely recommend checking it out. Very pleased with our experience! Cheesecake was delicious to end an already awesome evening

My go to place for great food and service. Steven and Brook, Haley always provide the best service! Food is the best on the mountain, trout, salmon, crab soup, wedge, list goes on... Just delish!!!

Service sucked my chicken marsala had chunks of sweet madalia onions and very little sauce and mushrooms no where near a fine dining experience more like a local diner with the amount of tourism to this area was really surprised by no good dinner places

Bartender wearing open toe shoes! No uniform. Swearing. No smile.45 minutes for an appetizer.So unprofessional.S- wordF-bombs .Got a huge eye roll when I asked for coffee.I hope the owner opens his/her eyes

We had such horrible service at Bullwinkels that we decided to get food here. We sat on the patio and I would assume since were not dressed like the "others" we were told that the table were sitting at was for dining patrons only. We informed whoever it was (a male - very rude) that we were there to get drinks and he sternly told us that we needed to go to the bar. We then told him were getting light appetizers and he scoffed and walked away. It took us 30 min for us to get waited on and our waitress informed us that the man we spoke to earlier and the other waitress that was assigned our table were very upset and didn't want anything to do with us. The waitress we had came back from behind the bar to serve us. She was great, very attentive and we got our food and drinks very quickly. We were paying customers, not rowdy by any means. We were a party of 6 and we left her a 50% tip.

Steve and his staff are wonderful. They are flexible, considerate, and passionate.It's a great place for excellent food and service.

We stayed on Beech Mtn and I was definitely not eager to go back down the mountain just to eat. So relieved to find the Alpen close by. Brooke was our server and doubled as our tour guide when she answered so many of our questions about the area. Food was delicious…(crab bisque, yum) and Steve and Brooke were above our expectations. Hope we get to go again in the future. Highly recommended

The food is as excellent. We ordered the broccoli cheese soup (outstanding) and wedge salad (delicious homemade dressing) and NY strip (perfect) with sweet pitas and green beans. The tolls were perfectly pillowy. The margarita was exceptional. The ambiance dining outside from 4;30-5:30 was magical!

We walked into the place and the manager or host told us that it's going to be quite a delay since there's going to be 20 people coming soon that had a reservation. I said are they here now? No, he said, they're coming soon. I said well we'd better sit down quick and make our order so we can get ahead of them. He wasn't too pleased but he sat us anyway.The waitress was wonderful. She put our order in right away, brought out our meal that was delicious, and we were finished by the time all the guests arrived.I did not appreciate that first guy because I felt that he didn't value my patronage as much as he valued the 20 people coming in.Now, the reason I gave it three stars was because of him, and the fact that my bill was $174 for five people two were children. I supposed the dollar signs were in his eyes thinking that there were four times as many people as us and how much money he would be making.We probably won't be back there.

This was a special experience. Top of a mountain, wonderful food, great service and spectacular views. stuffed portabellos and veal schnitzel were best ever.

Not great. Decor is a little dated for one. Secondly, took about 5 minutes to be greeted at the door. To add, service was not great, idk if it was because the band was going on or what, but took an hour to get food. Next they didn't have my first choice the Top Sirloin. So instead I had the Cuban Special ($25) - "Cuban" Pulled Pork, White Rice, black beans, and plantains. Pork was white, no color, like it had been boiled in water for hours (not slow cooked but literally boiled in water), also there was almost more onions than pork. It was incredibly salty, as was the white rice. Black beans were swimming in gray water like they had just dumped them out of the can and then microwaved them for a couple minutes. Plantains were ok..... Anyways, for the place to take an hour to get the food and then for it to be inedible was pretty disappointing. I'm from Florida so maybe my standards for Cuban food is high (idk I'm just trying to find reasons to help their case). But IMO if a restaurant claims to have an "authentic Cuban" special, then i guess I was hoping they would deliver, especially after they didn't have my first choice. I was far from impressed. Also one of the steaks ordered from my party was not cooked to the correct temp, the Med Well was Med Rare. So for the price - the service and quality of food was not worth it. 1/5 not recommended.....
