We met four other cruisers here for beer, and we all ended up with pizza as well. Alisha, the barkeeper, was efficient and friendly. Pizza was delicious. Good selection of beer. All reasonably priced compared to what we’ve been paying north of here. Nice and warm ambience.

Staying at the Belhaven Marina,and had dinner here.They should change the name from Tavern to The Pizza Palace.!!!!Going back tonight since will be sailing out tomorrow and want to make sure have my share.Did I mention the staff, helpful, friendly, super people, make me feel was a “regular” the way they treated me?Told them I live 2 hours drive from home, but the drive will be worth it.!!!PSa reviewer commented negatively on the size? too large?Please, do not change it, is perfect!!!!!

First visit. We'll pleased! The decor of the place is awesome, service was very good. The food was great, I highly recommend this place. We will be going back!

Love the atmosphere at the tavern. Have been going there since it opened. The pizza is delicious. The problem we have is they went to one size pizza, which is large and if it was actually a large it would be great. Every time we go it gets smaller and smaller and same price. I mentioned it to the waitress last time we went and she said the dough shrinks. Well…get bigger pans and more dough so when it does shrink it’s still a large pizza. Just a suggestion

I just wanted to start off by saying I would not recommend going to enjoy dinner here. The grits was hard and the sauce was so greasy. Our appetizer took 40 mins to arrive at our table and it was greasy. Even though the food was not worth what we paid our waitress was amazing. She mentioned she was new and was by far the best we've had in awhile.

SO ANGRY! Today is my 60th birthday and all I have been craving was pizza. My husband and I had a couple of drinks at the bar and then ordered a pizza. I SPECIFICALLY mentioned how much I HATE anchovies, but my husband likes them. We EVEN had a conversation with the bartender about this!We ordered a pizza with anchovies on ONLY 1/3 because the taste spreads.We got home and the pizza is covered with anchovies.It may not be a big deal to some, but as my “requested” birthday dinner, it WAS a big deal to me.I called them and they took my number and as of yet, I’ve heard nothing. So very disappointed in The Tavern.

(in order to leave a review I had to put one star) but I would leave none)I've been here twiceIf you're visiting Belhaven NC area I would not recommend this place for dining.This place is dirty and very darkExpensive and over priced for portions/drinksPortions were very smallFirst visit the food was under cooked.Food options on menu is limited.Worst restaurant I have been to in North Carolina.I understand staffing and being short handled but that is just one minor issue we experienced.

Visiting family from Virginia Beach this week. We decided to stop here for dinner. At 5pm, waited 20 minutes to order pizza, which is all they were serving at the time. After waiting a 1/2 hour, we asked the host how much longer the wait is, she said it should be right out. We watched several people come in, get seated & served. Long store short, at 7:25pm we were still not served. My brother in law asked for the check to pay for drinks & the bartender asked "Do you still want the pizza?" He replied "No, we e been here 2 1/2 hours & never got our food" As the place got packed with people, everyone else was eating & we decided to leave & go to the restaurant across the street, which was fabulous! The service & food was absolutely amazing!!

We brought our family to enjoy this beautiful restaurant but came away disappointed. Cocktails were great,food was just so-so. The menu was very limited to begin with, and then they were out of items. Service was extremely slow because of the lack of staff. They tried their best. Sadly, it was past the point of patience. They are not the only restaurant experiencing this problem. We would try it again

We had a big group that just popped in because everything in the area closes at 9pm. Staff was very friendly, food was decent. Big portions, so you could probably share a nacho or shrimp and grits with someone.

Two of us had pizza we really enjoyed my spouse had a burger which he too liked. Found it odd thought that a steak house only had "homemade chips" no fries and funny that those chips seemed to come from a bag. I've had my share of homemade restaurant chips and those were not homemade. But good effort ...

I have never had such a terrible steak before. This place should be on Gordon Ramseys Kitchen Nightmares. We paid 240$ for our meals. We sent back the beef tips (which were not beef tips, they looked like the ribeye chopped up) because it was cold. Some pieces were almost raw, some were sizzled to a crisp. My filet mignon was supposed to be medium, it came back near raw in the middle. There was no seasoning on any of the food. My steak was sent back because it was undercooked. The WHOLE HEAD of broccoli they served was half burnt, half raw. My dad never received his salad, and it took almost 20 min to get water's to go with our drinks. We told the waitress the level of food was VERY poor in comparison to the price and hopefully someone in that place takes it to heart. Will NEVER come back.
