RUDE STAFF! Except for 1 or 2, it is my opinion the staff here are rude, outright disrespectful, argumentative, and have no compassion. I have put up with the inconvenient hours for years due to the kindness of the doctor and some of his staff but I will be taking my business elsewhere.

The Doctor is wonderful and every nurse + Julie and Emma at the desk are about the best you can find on earth. They take extra special care of our kitten and we would not trust anyone else.

RUDE STAFF! Except for 1 or 2, it is my opinion the staff here are rude, outright disrespectful, argumentative, and have no compassion. I've literally had a staff member arguing over a misunderstanding while I was dealing with an incredibly hard diagnosis and it was right in front of the doctor. I spoke to him about it, and he apologized and reprimanded her. I said as a favor to him I won't write a bad review, but if it happens one more time, I will feel compelled to because this just can't happen. Unfortunately, I have now experienced several more incidences with several of the staff before I chose to write this today. I have put up with the inconvenient hours for years due to the kindness of the doctor and some of his staff but I will be taking my business elsewhere.

i called to ask if the doctor had experience with pet ducks. I was told he did, that he'd been in practice 40 years, and how in that time he'd seen it all. I made it clear, initially to the intake person and later to the doctor himself, that i was concerned she was eggbound BUT she'd been passing shell-less eggs for several weeks, not due to unavailable calcium supplement or poor quality food. He mashed around on her abdomen, a bit deeper than I was comfortable with, but I hoped he was indeed experienced. She didn't seem to be hurt by it anyhow. He announced that he didn't feel any egg, and again, I reminded him of no hard shell, so feeling an egg might not be as expected...he even suggested X-rays which again, no hard shell so what exactly did he think he'd see. I even showed him a picture of the "rubber egg" she layed a few days previous. Here's the problem. Neither he nor his assistant really seemed to be paying attention or listening. Maybe his bloodshot eyes were from lack of sleep? I don't know. Maybe her having to go back into the clinic twice to have him repeat home care instructions, maybe she too was having a bad day. Why didn't this seasoned vet imagine that my sweet little duck was swollen on her insides and at least prescribe an antibiotic as a precautionary!? It wasn't until I was home and she was in her warm bath and pushed out a red tinged string like something, that it hit me! Peritonitis! she must have had one of those funky eggs I showed him a picture of break on the way out and she was infected in there! Their office was closed when I figured that out! Why didn't this 40 yr experienced vet imagine that possibilty that's actually very common with fowl!!! She died that night. Maybe instead of the fluids he gave her (?) she was not dehydrated...Maybe an antibiotic would've helped!!! Oh, and the calcium he also gave her, based on her weight of course? He didn't even bother to subtract the weight of the heavy bath towel I brought with her, and deduct that amount previous to calculating the calcium dose. She could've had a heart attack from too much calcium! To me that's entirely incompetent, and looking back it should've been enough for me to yank her out of there. I called the office to express my disenchantment relaying how incompetent the practice felt based on these points and in the background the tech in question was arguing with what she overheard, justifying it all rather that extend not only sincere condolences but a partial refund! $124 for missed calculation and missed diagnosis. Certainly don't take your pet ducks there.

Hey guys, just wanted to make a PSA. My regular Vet is out of my diabetic dog's prescription diet. My Vet wrote me a prescription to get it but Blue Ridge Animal Hospital wouldn't do what's called "acting as a pharmacy" to fill his food. I've spent over 2 grand on my dog the past 2 months because he is old, diabetic, and very arthritic. He's in a hospice type situation. As a Vet Tech who was, not too recently, out of the field, I can tell you that Veterinary hospitals who won't "act as a pharmacy" (meaning they won't sell the food without me paying for an exam as well) have money as their top concern and not animal welfare.

My initial impression was positive but after witnessing the cold and callous behavior of the only available vet, before, during, and after my pet's hasty euthanasia I will never step foot in their hospital again. Refused to put a mask on and breathed all over us as I sat with my dying pet in my arms. Never even a "so sorry for your loss" just "here's what you owe us". Disgusting.

Sounds odd but our pup genuinely LOVES going to see all her friends at BRAH. As her pup parents we feel the same way. They take great care of her and every employee interacts with her as if she's their own. Dr Wagener always listens to our concerns and does a thorough job. It's an added bonus they're all so familiar with bully breeds and the skin issues etc they commonly face.(Attached photos are older, we've also been pleased with the "curbside" procedures and precautions implemented 2020-2021.)

Blue Ridge Animal Hospital is great! I was visiting from Florida and realized I didn't have enough of one of the meds for our dog. Called BRAH and they were able to fit us in the same morning. They contacted the vet in Florida, did an exam, and filled the medication quite quickly! And we were off playing tourists again!

I have been seeing Dr Wagner for 9 years now. I don't know what I would do without him and the friendly staff. Always familiar faces to set you at ease.
