I've been coming to the Ridgeway Inn for 33 years. When I first started coming, it was privately owned and It was just marvelous! Those years when I came in the beginning, it was a charming little Inn ... quietly decorated with comfortable beds, well kept with simple daily housekeeping provided to freshen up your room, and leave fresh towels. They now do not even come into your room to give you fresh towels for a three night stay. (I asked about that and yes, you can call and request that and they'll drop them by at some point, or you can get them from the office. ) Also, when I went to wash my hands in the bathroom there were no bars of soap provided, no shampoos or little lotions, like you see, in all hotels, motels, and inns. I guess you can ask for those too. I have not been here in about six years and decided to come back for a nice long weekend. I was very surprised when I discovered that this "Inn" had suffered. Little has been kept up. Some of the wall paint is coming off, and it needs to be cleaned. There is literally a fire extinguisher frame remaining on the wall where they removed the previous fire extinguisher. They did install a new one on the ceiling, but the one left on the wall is very unattractive. I don't know what positive I could say, except for the ceilings are nice light pine paneling, and the bones are good. Office staff have been pleasant. This was, and still could be a charming motel/inn with general upkeep... which is and should be expected in a place that people stay for vacations, getaways. I am finding this stressful to deal with after paying $200 plus dollars for this night. Let's just say that this is a disappointment.

BEWARE!! I expected so much but I can assure anyone reading this that I will NEVER stay here again nor my family or friends. I will tell everyone how awful they are. They are still making unauthorized charges on my account and it's been weeks since I stayed there. Being the manager of a small business and owning small businesses I'm appalled. ***1st: pubic hair was on the toilet seat and bathroom floor. Long hairs were in the bathtub.****2nd: After checking out I was alerted that they had charged me an additional $150 on top of the nightly rate. When I called she said it was because they smelled smoke in the room. I am a smoker but I DO NOT SMOKE INSIDE AND DID NOT smoke in their room. I smoked in my car or sat on their swing. No where does it say "No smoking". She said we signed it at checkout.... that's all she kept saying. I explicitly asked the girl at check in when she said "initial here"....I said "So not pets and no smoking in the room." (which I'm aware in standard operating procedure for all hotels. I travel often.) And the girl said " yes". The lady on the phone said I should have stripped my clothes off before coming in the room and that people around there "didn't smoke". So if I smelled like food she didn't like is that too grounds for charging me? They need to post WE DO NOT ACCEPT SMOKERS IN ANY CAPACITY AT THIS HOTEL because that is what they mean. Now after 2 weeks they charged my card AGAIN for $100. I have already explored other legal options & have been assured I have a case. Blowing Rock is awesome but these people are NOT!!!!

Old model down to basic necessities. Closest hotel to Main Street. That alone, is enough.

All we requested. Not even a walk to eating and shopping. Short drive to the Rock. Comfy beds. Quiet place. Just what we were looking for.

Upon check in i immediately called because our room smelled of mold. Room 118 at the Ridgeway Inn. Left a message with the front desk. Didn’t get a call until the next morning and I explained the situation. I also mentioned the bathroom was dirty. I didn’t ask for anything at that point because we were checking out. Later when getting home the bottoms of our socks all smelled of mildew. I called and spoke to the manager to ask for compensation because $300 per night is beyond unreasonable with this hassle. He told me no and hung up on me. Really rude. So please book at your own risk. Won’t be returning. The photo below is the trim in the bathroom.

This is a no frills hotel. Not very cute, not very cozy, not very accommodating. The bed swayed in the middle and the springs were so bouncy you could fall off if you moved too fast. The bathroom was old, the place smelled old, but it was clean. Except for the trash cans that were not emptied. There is very little parking so be prepared to park some distance from the place and away from your room if you do not get one of the 12 spaces. There are better places to stay I am sure of this, and we will be checking other places out.
