“I happened across Hands gallery after a visit to Turchin art center in Boone, while I was on vacation. Hands gallery is a terrific store, featuring work of more than a dozen local artists, including ceramics, textiles, jewelry, paintings, etc. The artists take turns staffing the store themselves. As luck would have it, Claire, the maker of the lidded ceramic jar I selected, was in the store that day. ? Buying a piece directly from the artist and chatting with her for a bit is a lovely memory.”
