Foggy Mountain Gem Mine has consistently been our top choice for gem mining excursions over the years. This new location has significantly enhanced its appeal, with the addition of a more spacious and accessible parking facility. The gem mining experience offered here is particularly engaging for children, who exhibit a keen interest in learning about the various gems they uncover. The educational aspect of this experience is a noteworthy feature that contributes to the overall appeal of Foggy Mountain Gem Mine.

Going down in quality. They are giving too much gravel (garbage) and not enough gems to find. With the Big Daddy bucket only a small bag of gems. Will not return anymore.

Great experience for your little scientist! Our daughters, 8 & 5 had an absolute blast sifting and sorting through the rocks and gems. After we were done the girls loved going through their findings with the staff who explained what they found and what it would look like polished. Kids and parents had a good time.

Staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. I enjoyed that the mining is inside so you don't have to worry about the weather. We found some nice stones in our 5 gallon bucket

Awesome! So awesome in fact, my family went twice in 2 days!Great gem finds (emeralds, sapphires, garnet, ect) and the employees were extremely friendly and knowledgeable. They help identify your gems and give detailed descriptions. They even can cut your gems, some for free with purchase!

We just stopped in to look around the gift shop. They have a huge selection of stones and minerals for sale without having to mine for them. Everything from tumble stones to giant multi thousand dollar geodes and fine custom jewelry. The employee went the extra mile to find my wife what she was looking for. Even got a few raw emerald and sapphire chunks from their mining area for her when she couldn't find any in the gift shop.Place is bigger than it looks from the outside.Excellent stop on your mountain vacation.10/10 would recommend

Easily the best gem mining spot in the area. The buckets are large and the amount of quality stones you get is great. You pay mare for a small bucket than most places, but the bucket is larger and just get bigger and better stones. Used them to make a setting for a necklace too and it turned out great.

Very fun, we found lovely gems and the helpful we great with identifying all we found and helpful when we went to get to get them set. Highly recommend they did a few custom peices of jewelry and they are stunning thing we always get compliments on to include a 6 ct blue sapphire made in a ring that is some of their gem cutters best work even if I am biased about it

We LOVE this place! We’ve been twice now with friends from out of town and we had a blast both times. Both times we got The Mother Load bucket. It’s worth every penny. We found so many large sized gems. After you get done digging, you can take your gems to the counter and an employee will go through everything and tell you what you’ve found. This part is always educational and the staff is friendly and knowledgeable. This time we had Athena and she did an excellent job!Spend a day here or a half day, get the big bucket and have a ton of fun!

Spent about an hour on a rainy Saturday at Foggy Mountain Gem Mine with a friend and her daughter while the rest of our friends hung out at a local brewery.First time here. We bought a bucket of "ore" for $40 and started sluicing. The whole process is what you would expect, but the buckets were absolutely full of big gravel. The ore was "seeded" so it had pieces in it that were not local which is to be expected of places like this. The gravel though... big disappointment. My friends daughter had fun so that's what mattered.
