HBC is such an amazing campground! The owners are so friendly and helpful. The creek is so beautiful and relaxing. They have amazing events. The coffee shop is so cozy and has AMAZING drinks. Honey bear is my favorite campground ever! The fall colors are so pretty ?

Campground seemed pretty near overall. Pretty tree, space for solitude. However the site I stayed in was pretty bad - B02. No spot for tent, slopes, two big holes on site, drop off off backside of site. Slept in car since there wasn’t a space for a tent. Looks decent on other sites, just not that one!

So disappointed. We were really looking forward to trying out Honey Bear to make it our yearly campground spot, but it was a huge disappointment. The place woods surrounding the campground is beautiful and it is located conveniently close to Boone, but the benefits stop there. If I could give customer service a 0, then I would. We paid for a full hookup sight and stayed for 5 nights. The hookups were sketchy to say the least, however we were looking to have a good time. Saturday rolls around and we wake up to no water. No phone call, text, stop by to let us know something was wrong. We overheard others saying their water was out, so we figured we would hear something about the water being out and an estimated time it would be repaired but we never heard anything. We had been filling our tanks rather than hooking directly to water, so we conserved the best we could, which was very difficult with a 6 month old baby with us. We had to do quick sink baths and ended up just leaving for the day because we didn't have other options. We came back around 6 in the evening and still no water or no information from the owners of the campground. The thing that frustrated us the most was the lack of communication. We attempted to call the office multiple times about it but no response. I finally emailed them and informed them that we hadn't had water all day (which they knew but never communicated) and that we paid for full hookups and would like a refund on the hookups for the day we were without water. In an hour we had an email back stating that they had shut the water off due to a water break and no refund would be offered. Had this been communicated we would have known to fill up our tanks or do something different, but no communication at all. Good customer service would have alerted their guests and likely offered something like a discount on the next stay or a little off of store purchase, but no these people do not care about their guests even enough to let them know what's going on. We should have known we would have issues when we called multiple times on the way here to talk to someone about our registration email going to spam and not sending it back in the required amount of time (which we had no clue we should have been on the lookout for the email because this was not clear either). We never talked to one person running the place the entire time we were there. Other campers complained to us about the lack of customer service as well, but they did have time to send a text about halloween events at the campground. Finally 12 hours after the water issue, we had water back and they finally sent out a text basically saying it still wasn't completely fixed and sorry. This was not sincere and it was much too late as well. We booked and arrived with hope for a great camping spot, but instead we got a run down campground that may have been nice two decades ago, a rikidy swing with mattresses taped to the tree beside it, collapsed bridges, run down buildings, and sketchy hookups. Looks like we will have to keep looking for our go to campground near Boone. Grandfather Mountain Campground has some great potential!

Great campground inside of Boone. Travel about 5-10 min out of the campground and you get some really good restaurants and a Walmart about the same distance. Campground is nice and clean and tent sites have more room than I expected them

Conveniently located near downtown Boone and the Blue Ridge Parkway. We have a 24' Class C RV and stayed in spot 16 for one night. It was very tight with little room to spread out before crossing over into the neighbor's space. I think the staff should have put us in a bigger space. There was a much larger spot directly across from us that was vacant. Other than that, the campground seems like a great place for families with kids.

First time here on a recommendation. My first mistake was taking Shulls Mills Rd from downtown Blowing Rock. DO NOT take this route! Come down 321 instead. My biggest negative is getting here. The 1.5 mile windy road up is not fun w/a camper. But there's no alternative. Be ready! This place is extremely peaceful. No road noise, no construction, just birds chirping. The sun doesn't shine through on most sites so you could literally sleep all day in a dark camper. Verizon wireless works extremely well which was great for those who work remotely. Owners were very welcoming.I will say, it's very tight in here. Getting your camper situated in the spot is a challenge no matter which loop you are in. Be prepared to use ALOT of leveling jacks, blocks, etc because the terrain is all mountainous. I saw 3 large 5th wheels and honestly don't know how they made it in their spots. I would not recommend any RV over 30 feet unless you are very seasoned at maneuvering a rig. It is very muddy in alot of areas because it rains alot (in summer) and the sun doesn't shine enough to dry it up. Be ready for getting muddy shoes. The location of this campground is very close to Boone so there is everything you need within 5-10 minutes which is nice. Also lots to see in this area.I did not use any of the facilities so I can't speak for them. Water pressure at the site works great.

Great family RV campground in Boone. Lush, shady forested sites - level and gravel. Minutes from downtown action. We had a babbling brook, lined with rhododendrons at our campsite.

Wonderful, beautiful, quiet jewel of a campground that my entire family goes to every year starting in 1991. Not many amenities (cable TV or pool) , but you don't need or miss them here.Nearby activities: Boone is neat town with lots to do. Only several miles from Tweetsie Railway Theme Park & Blue Ridge Parkway, about 12 miles from Grandfather Mountain, 22 miles from Linville Falls.

I stayed at a 17. That review where it said the campground was run by kids was correct. I never had any adults while I was there. But I was not around the campground much. The site I had had two water supplies. One of them was split on the side. I reported it to the young girl, and she said she would have someone out. I never saw anyone, but again, I was not around much. They do need to pave the paths or at least bring in some rock. A17 was kinda narrow. I could not put out my awning or chairs. But again, I was not around much. I do appreciate having a place to stay. I would stay there again, but maybe closer to the creek, they were wider. If I'm going to hang out.

Campground very beautiful and clean. Staff very helpful but was disappointed in the fact that reservations have been made for months in advance for a pool through site only to be switched and reassigned it back in the day before we arrived. Campers across the Creek from us ran a generator the whole time we were there and we’re allowed with music morning and night.

Place was OK if it's not raining and if you're camping with a family. Unfortunately we're just a couple traveling. We arrived and there was no paperwork for us even though we made a reservation. Called the number given but no answer. Waited half an hour but nothing. Not much fun in the pouring rain! Just went to the site and tried to set up since we did have a site on our email . Somebody thought our site was their extra parking area and left a big truck there. Finally someone appeared after 10 minutes to move it. We got set up ok but the water connection is so low to the ground I had to get my kit of extra parts out to connect. If you don't have extra equipment then you'll have an issue. After getting out of our soaked gear we went to take a shower. Literally needed to swim to the shower house due to no drainage by the door. Went down after the rain ended but just so you know if it's rainy. Also the bathroom looked like something out of the hostel movie or psycho. Broken UV light zapping all the time, fans blowing to try and dry up moisture but no heat. It would also be nice if they had some gravel path to the restroom as walking in the wet grass soaks your shoes every time you go there. Did have a laundry room but only one dryer. Some camper left their clothes in so had to remove them. Still, grateful for dry clothes. Checked later and clothes still there?? So again, might be fine in better weather but expect tough conditions if it's raining. Wouldn't buy firewood either since they leave it out in the elements.

This was my wife's first camping trip. I was nervous about how it would go. We had a blast! This campground is amazing. Our campsite was a sort of "box canyon". We set the site up facing in and had great privacy. The campground staff delivers wood with a simple phone call or you can scavenger around for it. We did both. Honey Bear will be a repeat visit for us.

Wow! What a great trip! We have stayed at this campground for years and it keeps getting better and better! The staff was super friendly, the campground was neat and clean and the Halloween activities were amazing! Trick or treating, not-so-haunted trail, movies, and hayrides! My children had such an amazing time. We’ve already booked for next year! Very convenient to Boone and surrounding areas.
