Seth was an awesome guide. He provided everything and taught my son how to fly fish and put us on a lot of fish. It was a great time and highly recommend.

Wife and I had a 1/2 day wade trip. Colton was our guide, and did an excellent job! He was extremely helpful to my pregnant wife navigating slippery rocks in the creek. We had a blast, and will definitely be booking another trip when we come back.

We found the shop on line and we had a great time on our 4 hour fly fishing excursions. Our guide was very patient with us being novices to fly fishing. But just to set expectations right for others, we drove 10 miles to the national park and we waded in boots up the river. This is a natural water environment and the trout/fish are about 6-8 inches on average. Your skill level will dictate the success of catching fish. We had a nice time!

We did the full wade trip with Johnny. It was an awesome day. He put us on the fish, and when it slowed down, we were on the move to the next area. He was very friendly and personable and we would definitely book with him again.

"Great Trip for the Family" = NOT. We arrived the first day after driving an hour to be told it was not a good day for the trip. No phone call or text ahead of time. We rescheduled for the next day. After driving to the meeting point we drove a considerable distance farther to get to the fishing location of Deep Creek. One guide was helpful and pleasant and the other seemed to be in quite a rush. Myself, husband and two teenage boys were advised not to wear waders as we would be too hot. Only because they mentioned poison ivy I pulled on some dry fit sweatpants - Thank God or my injury would likely have been worse. The trip started ok but the impatient guide had my oldest son way up ahead of every one else. The water was getting higher and frankly faster then we were originally told we would even be in. Eventually I fell which yielded me in the ER with sutures and 11 staples in my leg across my knee. The guides had NO first aide supplies with them and were surprised they even had cell service to call for rescue after of course having to cut a strap off my bag to tie around my leg and climb a rather steep embankment to even get where rescue could get to me. I was reimbursed the cost of the trip after requesting a week later. The over 1600.00 bill for ER and the additional visits I had to make back home for staple removal (twice) received no compensation. I understand I signed a waiver --- I also understand that the events that transpired that day were not as they should have been by the guides.

Stopped in for information on good places to cast fish, being I or my wife don't know anything about fly fishing, the two gentlemen working were more than happy to give us the information on good fishing spots. And advice on good reeling spinners to use, so we purchased blade spinners, can't wait to see my wife land a big fish ?.Thanks for your time and help at Bryson City Fly Shop.

Terrible customer service. Parked in front of their store and my son went inside while I headed to the coffee shop.As I was walking to grab the coffee (I had planned to come back and shop) my son comes out and says they won’t allow me to park in front of their store. This is odd, considering my son was shopping there at that time (and would ultimately buy merchandise from there). So I walk inside and look to speak to someone, however the guy behind the counter was on the phone and after a minute of waiting he didn’t attempt to make any sort of eye contact or interaction so I started to walk through the store and look for another rep. I found an older gentleman and I asked if it were alright for me to park where I did (front of the store) while my son (shopping in the store at that time). He said yes.So I headed out to grab the coffee. On the way out a guy stopped me who was on his cell phone paving back and forth, and as it turned out, he also worked at the store. The way he was talking, it seemed like it was his store. Even though my son was currently shopping in the store, I told him I’d be back in 15 minutes and would also be shopping in his store. I still didn’t understand why I could park in front of his store if we were patroons and planned to buy merchandise. He said he thought we’d be parked there all day. I explained we had plans to head up to the smokies after grabbing coffee and shopping his store. I said I’d be back in 15 minutes. He heat insisting that I’d likely be parked there all day. I advised, no I’ll be back in 15 minutes, after I grab some coffee, will shop in his store and will be gone. After 5-10 minute of our conversation heading in circles, he reluctantly agreed. My son later told me that he counted down out loud in the store from 15 minutes backward. Whatever my son wasn’t phased and proceeded to look for flies amongst other items. He asked some decent questions about their flies (he later ran them by me and I agree they were valid questions). However as he explained it, the employee he engaged with (different than the 3 I had previously seen/engaged with) were very condescending and not helpful at all. They acted very condescending in their responses toward my son, who has a decent amount of fly fishing experience. In the end my son did end up buying $20 worth of flies from them, which he said they up charged him for. He pointed out where he picked them out and the price from that area, but they still proceeded to up charge him as if the fly were of a larger size.Needless to say I didn’t end up shopping here after I got my coffee. I won’t ever be shopping here. We went down the block to “Tuckaseegee Fly Shop” and the gent in there was a true professional and answered all of our questions. We dropped a pretty penny in that shop and we’re happy to do so. I’ll be leaving a positive review for they shop.Update: rebuttal to the shop’s replyLet’s start by saying your designated spots were not marked as such when we parked. Someone brought them out of the store, after we parked and got out. I understand some people leave their vehicles there all day. However, why punish your customers for their actions? I clearly stated I was parked there temporarily while my son, and then I, shop the store. My wife ended up moving her car due to an employees rude demeanor. One person said to move to the middle of the parking lot, another employee advised it was alright for me to park where I did, another asked me to pull around back and ultimately said I could park there, as long as it wasn’t for more than 10 minutes. I felt as if I was being interrogated and the loopy conversation itself took ten minutes. And, why did it seem like parking there for 10 minutes was an inconvenience to you? Is there a time limit being imposed? If so, you should make this clear to your future customers. Not by bringing out signs (not mentioning any sort of time limit), after they park and get out. Also we did not have any strollers, but if we did, why would that be an issue? Thanks, you have a great day too!

Just an awesome all day guided fishing trip with Ryan and Ian! So much fun. I found their website about 3 weeks ago and called. Talked to Colton and he was very helpful. Me and my three sons chose the 8 hour wade trip and had an absolute blast. Ian and Ryan taught us so much about the art of fly fishing. And the scenery was spectacular.Highly recommend! Will definitely come back.
