Another Update! Oliver is a year old today! I really can't imagine life without my little guy. What a light he has brought into our lives. I am so glad to have him under my roof. Thank you Shadybrook!Update Oliver is nearly eight months old now! Another Oliver Update! Here is another picture of Oliver at five months. He's doing great! He is spirited and very smart. He's happiest in the woods, but dinner is pretty good too. Here's an Update on Oliver - He has learned fetch, come, sit, stay, down and wait. He is crate trained and 95% housebroken. He loves his walks and is devoted especially to my wife. This is ironic in that he was supposed to be my dog. We can't imagine life without him. Thanks to the nice folks at Shadybrook we are fur parents again. These folks are exactly what you want to find when looking for a responsible breeder.

I just met Allen and Cindy for the first time yesterday when looking for a pug puppy. I was amazed at how clean and well organized their kennel facility was. They were more than accommodating to let me come on short notice to see their pug pups. They are both kind and personable folks, and you can tell in their interactions with their puppies and their own personal pets that they put their whole heart into what they do. They are very patient while you meet and get to know the pups. They patiently answer all of your questions. I now have a new playful and healthy member of the family thanks to them!

We bought our Cairn back in March 2018. She has been an absolute joy to have! We really appreciated the assistance Cynthia provided. Was frustrated we couldn’t handle her before purchase. Also, she was diagnosed subsequently with stage 2 heart murmur with our vet. That said, she appears, so far, to have no ill affects from this.

Got my tri-color cocker from here. The breeder was amazing to deal with and the kennels are well maintained and environmentally controlled. I would get another cocker from them any day.

Shadybrook Kennels is a puppy mill. I rescued my Scottie from them after she required an emergency C-section and the vet spayed her during the surgery. She was no longer "useful" to them. I flew from Boston, rented a car and as I pulled into the driveway began to realize just what sort of operation they are running. Row after row of dogs in metal cages. My sweet Sadie had never been walked, never felt grass beneath her paws, and was obviously hit on her head repeatedly. Two years later she has learned to be a dog! She runs, plays and has learned that people can be kind. The people running this kennel should be charged with a crime.

The facts about this breeder: They advertise on their website and puppy sites as a small hobby breeder but stated, in person, that they are the largest AKC breeder in the state with 5 breeds and have numerous litters of varied breed puppies monthly. This is a production breeder with 30-40 breeding dogs. They require puppy pick up at a very early 6 weeks of age and NC allows this. Buyers are not shown the littermates, kennels nor living conditions.Their puppy pricing has increased 40%-60% over the past 1-2 years. Breeding dogs are AKC registered but do not have champion bloodlines. They do breed parents of different colors which provides litters of varied colors which do not meet breed standards. Dogs are cute and lovable and pet quality with a hefty price tag.
