Mariah has made The Old Gray House a wonderful place to find unexpected treasures. Her placement of so many items to choose from makes for a relaxing yet mind stimulating adventure! Your kindness and smart business sense have made your place on the island a very special place to visit for all. Thank you for always making us feel extra-special each time we visit Hatteras.

Amazing gift shop. There were so many little things to explore, plenty to look at and fair prices! There is a little bit of something for anyone here, I’ll be visiting every year now when I’m on my vacation. The owner is so kind and very grateful to her customers. She even offers to grind up your coffee beans for you when you buy one of her delicious bags of coffee beans! I got autumn spice and I’m so excited to try a cup of coffee in the morning now!

My favorite little store on this island. Discovered it last year and went this year again. I never walk away empty handed and with a lot of stuff..

A true hidden gem. We merely stumbled upon it, peeked inside to find unique delightful items. Worthy for online shopping after I return home as I know all items are well made. Loved it!

I visited on recommendation of my mom, who lives in Hatteras. This was my favorite gift shop near her. They had interesting things and the prices on what I looked at were all reasonable.

This business was clearly built with a lot of love, for both the Outer Banks and the people that live here. Highly recommend if you want to buy something that is truly native to the area and captures its beauty. The selection of locally produced wares - from decor and truly unique souvenirs to a local fare of preservatives, coffee, and honey - is a pleasant departure from the ‘copy-paste’ pervasiveness of Wings and its mass-produced merchandising. Built from shipwreck salvage over a century ago (according to the owner), the Old Gray House strikes an impressive contrast to other gift shops on the Outer Banks. It’s beautifully preserved and renovated interior portrays a more modern aesthetic, but that aesthetic is expertly blended with the rich history of the house and the area. I am sad my wife wasn’t with me because I know she would have fallen in love with it, but I am also relieved, because it would have cost me a fortune.

Old Gray House Gifts in Buxton is a cute gift shop with a wide selection of knickknacks. I liked the local shell selection and got some shells. I also got some knickknacks with local imagery printed on them, like Swedish dish cloths with the outer banks map printed on them. I really like the exterior décor and the "House of Thought"
