It's a proper place to get a tailored bespoke suit....too bad it's missing the bourbon, cigar, and that boys club vibe.

Okay, so you know right off the bat this is a high-end store and the clothing will not be cheap. I mean it is decades old and run by the Julian family, as in fashion designer Alexander Julian and his sister. We don't often pop in but decided to stop by while walking up and down Franklin Street. I had bought a pair of (expensive) socks from them years ago, and on a whim I bought a similar pair. I considered it a Christmas present to myself. The fashion and offerings are colorful and of good taste. The staff were pleasant, even though their register printer was not working, so they texted me my receipt. Worth stopping by when you're in town. PS, they also offer gift cards.

My favorite clothing store. The staff is helpful and friendly. The selection is better than I’ve seen in any retail store. The original clothing designs are perfect for a North Carolina clothing fan. I have shopped here many times and plan to return frequently.

My fiancé and I visit this store on a regular basis. We love the customer service especially when we see our favorite little lady there…. She is always helpful and does not mind going the extra step. She treats us like we are family.. My fiancé and I will be returning…

The relationship a man has with his tailor is one of utmost importance throughout his life. From major milestones (family weddings, my own wedding, and graduation) to esprit de corps, there has been no such thing as a mundane visit or fitting in my experience over the past three years at Julian’s in Chapel Hill. For the uninitiated who are curious, don’t let a $2,000 jacket in the window deter you from coming inside. There’s no limit to what third-generation tailor Bart Fox can do, but most importantly, he understands how to treat people. He listens and carries a wide range of items. Including khakis for less than $100, and wool slacks for less than $200. These are quality items which will last for years, and Bart will explain how to take care of them. He has taught me how to iron dress shirts, and has even polished dress shoes free of charge. This is why Bart is my tailor for life.Continuous improvement is an ongoing theme at Julian’s. They are always trying new vendors ranging from fresh Calder Carmel sport shirts to handmade jackets and suits made in America by Oxxford Clothes. And Alex Julian designs seasonal one-of-kind fabrics which are produced in limited quantities as button front shirts, jackets, and coats. The first piece that I purchased from Julian’s, a three-season jacket, is what started an overwhelmingly positive working relationship with Bart. I had come in looking for a sport coat that I could wear with navy blue slacks. A few beautiful jackets were tried on, and I mustered the courage to say that I needed to spend less. Bart immediately showed me a jacket which featured a fabric designed by his uncle, Alex, and told me they could have it made up for a reasonable price. A try-on jacket was visually assessed, and the resulting commission was the best-fitting jacket I had ever worn! Later Bart explained that he had tweaked the pattern based on what he had seen with the try on jacket. No alterations were needed! I liked the jacket so much that I rewore it for my wedding, and recently wore it for a second interview.I am lucky to consider Bart a friend, and to support a local business with the best tailor around. Thank you, Bart!

Julian’s was wonderful. Bart and Kristien catered to our needs and gave us an awesome experience. They stayed past closing to make sure we were taken care of for our wedding purchases. We’ll definitely return. Very professional with an incredible knowledge of fabric, design and colors. Best shop for custom made suits.

A Tar Heel institution I have revered since my graduate school days; I still have clothing purchased there over 20 years ago. They staged my closet for the rest of my academic and professional life. Priceless counsel from a phenomenal fashion-focused family!

I came in for an argyle tie which my son-in-law sent me into get for him. When I got there there were 3 argyle ties. I sent him a photo for him to decide. The young man Christian was so patient waiting for me to get the correct tie. As I was waiting I noticed UNC socks I thought my grandson would enjoy. Christian wrapped both gifts beautifully. A very pleasant morning shopping.MaryAnn Klompmaker
