This place is one of a kind - it is a combination of a gift shop, department store, and restaurant. Moat of the items are from the South, although there are also items from around the world. It is super fun to wonder around there even when you are not looking for anything specific.

Curious question, why not just sell the space and let something else go in its location at university place mall. Leaving that mall really turned that mall into a ghost town. Why not make southern seasons your head quarters and then buy other stores in university place mall and turn them into shipping rooms and wrapping rooms etcJOBS, YOU CAN USE THE SPACE AGAIN, AND PEOPLE would get their beloved store back, all you would have to do is curb side pickup with online orders, etcYou could even do tours for schools as how everything is bottled, packaged, wrapped and shipped.

The website shows that it is a store. I went today and thr doors were locked. No sign stating that it is closed. Is this an actual store or not?

I was looking for a birthday gift to send to my Dad in IL that had a NC taste to it. I sent him a Taste of Tar Heel gift tin; he loved the assortment of goodies.

Absolutely love Southern Season! I have been a long time customer and was very impressed with how well the company transition to an online business in a pandemic. Especially LOVE their gift crates. They are legit. Everyone who i’ve ever sent one too can also agree.

I love shipping special treats from NC to friends living on other states. There’s so many delicious sauces and snacks coming out of the south, it’s fun to share.

A Southern Season has been PERMANENTLY CLOSED for about 6 months and will NOT reopen. After years of bad management by new owners. Sad that this website does not note that it is not open and is OUT of BUSINESS

Sad to see the store close. The closing sale of January 2020 was a great time to get great deals. Still sad to see the store go.

I have many fond memories of visiting Southern Season as a child in NC. It was chock full of candies, kitchen utensils, specialty NC items, and had the Weathervane Restaurant. In recent years when I came to visit my family, it looked picked over and a bit sad. Sometimes the products had short shelf life dates on it and the poor employees would explain that it was what they received that week. (Certainly not their fault that the warehouse was sending product with upcoming expiration dates.) I sensed this was due to the bankruptcy issues and vendors complaining that they hadn't been paid for their orders in a long time. Everyone there was knowledgeable and friendly whenever I went. It's a shame it got to the point where they had to close the physical locations to focus on online orders only. I'm hoping this helps them turn things around.

This place is closed. I wish they would have been able to stay open. They had some unique items. Mabee if they had lower prices, open longer hours, and advertised more.
