The coolest thing about this place is that it's an underground cave with absolutely no cell service, so no one is staring at their phone. It's like stepping back in time to the 90s.

If anything describes this place, it’s a hole in the wall. Or rather a hole underground! Pretty friendly staff, good drinks, and fun live bands! There’s nothing fancy here and it’s pretty simple. Perfect for a quick drink out with a mate or to kill some time and have some fun.

A very cozy venue for experimental electronic music from laud punk to ambient. There's a bar but I don't do alcohol so I have no business talking about it. There's a room in the back with a pool table and other amusements. It's quieter back there. I suggest ear plugs unless you don't care enough to protect your hearing.

The bartender discriminated against my girlfriend and said she had to leave. When asked why, he said she had a fake ID and kicked her out. Incredibly disgusted by the service at this establishment would not recommend. We should’ve waited until the police were called so that the bartender could read a real ID. After making a long trip to see her and go out, I absolutely would not recommend this establishment, so many better bars on Franklin that welcomed us with properly trained bartenders who know how to read an ID.

I was excited to go to the Cave for the first time after turning 21 months ago and it was humiliating to be kicked out by a bartender who “did not feel that my ID was real.” Please learn how to read a real ID.

You can bring in food from a food truck but The Cave is very small and doesn't cook food down there.It's great, it's always been great since the 60:s like most underground storage rooms turned speakeasy type joints. Classic Chapel Hill laid back locals.

COLLEGE STUDENTS BEWARE.The ambiance is definitely "dive" which we loved. At first. The live music was nostalgic; the bar wasn't busy at all.Regulars (friends of the bartender/staff) approached us and seemed friendly while we were there. One was a professor at Wilmington, one was a local business owner. They were a middle aged couple. I'm in my late 20s.For the next 2 hours they hovered around us, dancing. 2 more of their friends showed up and they kept asking to hang out after (already 1am).My partner and I decided to leave at that point. My last drink of the night, club soda and lime, was spiked.I was able to make it home, but I was disorientated, dizzy and sick throughout the night. I only had 1 drink with alcohol the whole night.Thankfully we got out of there when we did. We'll never go back. What scares me is that these regulars knew everyone at the bar, everyone that worked there.This should go without saying but avoid this bar at all costs or only go with a group of people (3+). Seems like a hotspot for predators.
