I recently worked with Kellen at the Frame and Print Shop and I would highly recommend this store. They have a vast selection of frames and mattes for every budget.
I arrived about an hour before closing with 2 prints. It took a while to narrow down what looked best with the prints, but Kellen was professional, incredibly patient, and even had some really great suggestions of his own. I never felt rushed as he worked diligently to help me come up with the best combination in the end. I am very pleased with the final product and definitely intend to come back in the future when I have more items that need framing!

EDITED AFTER OWNER RESPONSE:
Owner trip to house was waste of her time and mine. GM had mucked up the reassembling of picture too badly. And the sample selected during home visit was not the same as what was delivered.
Issues experienced with this store had nothing to do with any experience elsewhere. Comment is irrelevant information.
=========
Horrible service.
1) Made 5 trips to store (28 miles round trip) over 4 weeks to select and inspect samples.
2) 1st frames came in a different color than sample. Staff couldn’t locate the 1st sample and weeks later I learned the Mgr had thrown it away. Thankfully, I had photos to verify the difference.
3) 2nd frame selection, same thing. Before making trip to inspect, owner told me 2nd selection matched sample. She should have her vision checked because it clearly did not match sample; Mgr agreed.
4) Worked with Mgr to determine next steps and reorder frames a 3rd time, left store feeling OK with path forward…until…owner called and told me she didn’t like my “attitude.” Totally unsubstantiated, she said it was “just a feeling.” That was the final straw. I canceled the order on the spot and requested full $1900 refund. I hung up but the owner called back to say we’d been disconnected. I explained I had nothing further to say; we were even. She started to yell. II told her to stop, we were done, and I hung up again.
5) Took 2 days and multiple calls to process the refund.
6) After 1st frame mismatch, the GM had taken apart a perfectly good picture brought in for a color comparison and couldn’t reassemble it correctly. Using very poor judgment, she thought there would be information on the back of a 35+ year-old frame that could be used to order something similar. Bad idea. She slapped it back together using different materials and when rehung, frame was a full inch lower than companion pictures. Her solution: lower the wall hook. Seriously. When confronted with the issue on the phone, she hung up – twice. Owner also attempted to fix frame and failed. Result: a customer-owned picture had been damaged for no good reason. I spent 5 hours cleaning off what the GM messed up, redoing the backing, using my own materials since GM had trashed the original wire and screws. Lesson learned: don’t ever let them let them mess with your property without a full understanding of what they will do to it. I should have cancelled the project then.
7) Shortly after the cancelled sale the owner started sending spam marketing emails. The gall.
(What small retailer needs an owner, GM, Mgr, and assistant – in addition to other staff? Keystone cops.)

As a watercolor artist, I appreciate the help with matting and framing. I used to do most of my own matting, but find that The Frame & Print shop can give me a more professional look. They are also an excellent source for printing. I have had some of my original watercolors and graphite drawings printed there, and the quality of print rivals the original.

I recently had several woodblock prints framed at the store. Ash was wonderful, creative and courteous as we worked on three prints. She has great eye for detail and was good at listening as I described colors I thought would complement the prints. Her suggestion of linen mattes really made the prints look beautiful.
The Frame & Print Shop is always a pleasure to work with. They have an extensive collection of frames in all price ranges too. I highly recommend them.

Today I went in and was helped by Ricky and had the most fabulous experience. He took such great care with my project! I have done work here in the past and every time I go in the service, creativity and care is outstanding. Can’t wait for it to be ready!

I went in to custom-frame a lithograph and also to get a poster dry-mounted. I was pleased with the selection of frame styles, price points, and matting options. I was VERY pleased with the customer service because (in contrast with other frame shops that I have had things done at) I did NOT feel hurried to make up my mind! And the person helping me was kind about pricing different variables for me so that I could make a decision that I am pleased with. I am very pleased with the items that they framed for me.As far as pricing, I don't know how they compare with the going rate, so I will tell you about what I paid, and you can judge for yourself. My litho was about 10.5" wide by 14.5" tall or so, I chose a 3.5" mat all around, museum-quality glass, and a reasonably priced, yet beautiful frame, and it ran me about $325. My poster dry-mount was only the dry mount (no glass or plastic and no frame) and ran me about $50-$60 for a 7" wide or so by 3 feet tall poster.

My wife does needlepoint. It takes a great deal of time and patience to produce a finished piece. They are often three dimensional and we always go a little overboard with framing requirements. We have had all of her pieces framed by the Frame and Print Shop. Each piece requires several steps on their part due to the unique nature of the pieces. The shop staff are exceptional in their delivery of a finished framing. We have never been disappointed in the final product. This shop is our only go-to spot to get this quality work done. They are great and we strongly recommend them.

Beautifully done and on time custom frame job for a lovely print picked up at the John C Campbell Folk School fall festival! Kind and patient design services, wonderful material options, and an on time delivery. Very pleased!

****I wanted to leave an updated review to express my gratitude towards Katy for her response. Initially, I received slightly varying explanations for both situations, but regardless, I appreciate the clarification provided. I was able to resolve the issue of the matted work by using additional mounting strips. It's reassuring to know that you genuinely care about your customers and their experiences. I'm thankful for the offer and plan on giving your service another try soon.

I recently used The Frame and Print Shop for an important signed photo of a famous soccer player. They did an outstanding job with everything and even finished the job a bit earlier than the expected 3 weeks. I couldn’t be happier with them and will return for more frames.

This business provides an unimpeachable level of service and skill. I have interacted with several framers over the years, and the Frame & Print shop team in Chapel Hill has them all beat. I recently brought them a very challenging job (hand carved frame, delicate painting, challenging assembly) and the assiduously completed the task with care and good taste. **11/10** recommend.
