March 2024 by Victoria Leach
I am so unhappy living here in the south. I have found nothing but unkind people in my three years of living here. The people are very very different.I’m staying here at the Siena Hotel. I’ve been here less than 24 hours. We arrived yesterday late afternoon and the woman on duty at the desk was SO kind. She even tried to help me with my room last night. March 8, 2024. I’m moving out of Raleigh today. Praise Jesus!!! I thought my journey to my new home would be a lot easier than it has been in the last 17-20 hours. This is a four star hotel. The clientele drive cars which cost more than a starter home. But I can’t get air conditioning in my room. The gentleman at the desk during the wee hours of the morning (2:22 AM on the clock) was SO rude to me. Where I come from I would never ever encounter a problem like this.I have a medical condition that requires me to be in 65 degrees or less. My room is currently 69 degrees. That is like 80 degrees to me. I’m uncomfortable and my body is swelling up from how warm I feel. The man won’t help me. He insists that none of the rooms will get that cold. It’s time to get another place. I demanded a full refund. No offense, but the restaurant isn’t very tasty. I ordered a recommended sandwich that I found inedible. I gagged on the first bite.I want to live somewhere else but I’m an old crippled woman whose brain was fried in 2018 by a medication prescribed to me which was toxic. I can’t drive. I can barely stand up because of the toxicity from that medication. I need help to do anything.I’m sitting here crying miserable in the room because I’m roasting. But this four star hotel won’t help me. I’m waiting for my daughter to wake up and stop my moving day just to relocate me into a more suitable place.Heck, I’ll take a Holiday Inn at this point.I’m sure their employees would be kinder than the guy working the night shift on March 8-9, 2024.Your hotel is one star to me.Food & drinks: Honestly, I would go for an Airbnb. This four star hotel is a one star to me. lol.

We always choose to stay here on our way to and from Florida. Not only do you get to stay in a fabulous hotel with your dog but you also have an A++++ restaurant on the premises! We highly recommend this hotel and Il Palio Restaurant! Make sure to ask for Kim at Il Palio….she always goes above and beyondand is truly a gem! ❤️

Romantic getaway. Beautiful place. 30 yrs old, but renovated modern. Best of old and new. Would be great for a wedding. Rooms reasonably priced. Restaurant is awesome. Lyle is a great server. Food is great. Italian with a twist. Small bar area. Quiet. Room for larger parties. Our room was a corner with two French door balconies. Very large nice marble shower. In room service was easy. Daniel at the desk and Gabriel in service very pleasant. Romance package of strawberries and bubbly with a breakfast voucher. Good price. The beds are wonderful. Rooms spacious and well furnished. We stayed one night. I'd go back tonight. Had issue with the barking pet in the later morning hours of another room and I'd check your charges. Two major things were wrong on ours, but corrected. No pool, older clientele. European flavored hotel. A nice escape. ?Rooms: Romantic. Old world elegant.Food & drinks: Dinner at Il Palo high-end four star resturant. You'll pay for it. But it's so good you'll not complain. Two people $150 with gratuity. Small full bar. Lots of seating in lobby.

I am very disappointed after my stay. I arrived at 3:45-4:00PM on a Friday, after an almost 3 hour drive. I was given my keys and information about local food and entertainment.I reserved a Junior Suite, corner room with a King size bed. I went to the room immediately and walked in on a couple in my assigned room (#427); thankfully they were sitting at the desk and lounge chair on their laptops. I apologized for the intrusion and went back to the front desk for a new room assignment and keys. The staff was very confused about why there were people in the room and questioned who they were, but apologized for the inconvenience. When the young man gave me my new keys, he told me that he upgraded my room to a large suite. While I appreciated the “upgrade”, I was very disappointed that I no longer had the corner room as I’m a very light sleeper. Had I been asked when he was making my new keys, I would have stayed in a corner room.Once unpacked and settled, I ordered room service and once again, I was extremely disappointed. I called room service to order a panini sandwich and fruit cup side, at 5:30PM they were out of the necessary ingredients. So I ordered a kids meal grilled cheese with fruit cup and a cesar salad. The salad was inedible, the lettuce was wilted and had so much dressing I only took one bite. The grilled cheese was acceptable but the fruit cup was definitely the star of the show.I assume the layout of the room necessitated the need to have the climate control system mounted in the ceiling above the bed. The vent was in the tray ceiling directly over the bed, every time it kicked on, I woke up. Around 3AM I tried to shut off the fan in hopes of getting to sleep, the best I was able to do was set the fan to “low”, which was still loud enough to wake me up every time it came on.Perhaps I would have slept a bit better had I not been thinking about the room & key issue I had upon my arrival. But every little noise, to include my neighbors enjoying their stay, I woke up panicking that someone had entered my room. The room wasn’t clean to my standards. I have a few photos to show the carelessness in the lack of attention to detail that I believe I should be able to expect from a hotel that advertises itself as a 4-star hotel. Two more small matters that were significant in conjunction with all the other problems encountered. The throw pillows on the couch were literally coming apart at the seams. Rather than removing the pillows entirely, the holes were on the bottom towards the back of the couch, as if it was an attempt to hide the tattered bits. Secondly, the only box of tissues was on the bathroom vanity, the first tissue I pulled out seemed damp. I was surprised by that, so I picked up the tissue box cover and discovered that the box was literally soaked all the way through and the tissues were as well. The overall cleanliness was shockingly poor and it felt as if the attempt to maintain a 4-star hotel completely missed the mark. Between the room/key mistake, the mismatched & degraded furnishings and decor, as well the poor quality of the room has left me over fatigued and dissatisfied with my entire experience.Rooms: The rooms were old, not well maintained for the level expected of a 4-star property. The cleanliness was also a problem as I showed on a small scale in the attached photos. Overall, I would not recommend using this specific location.Safety: I cannot stress enough how unsafe I felt after being given a key to someone else’s roomNoteworthy details: It has the potential to be a fabulous destination, especially factoring in the ideal location to get to any event/activity in the local area.

The state of our room was pretty bad. The wallpaper was peeling and discolored. Some of the fixtures were rusty.

Our wedding anniversary coincided with a work conference. We chose this place based on reviews and we were not disappointed. The staff was extremely helpful and professional, room/bathroom was clean and as expected, (the bed was too soft for us). The Restaurant was a pleasant surprise, the staff and Executive chef made our anniversary dinner special, we chose the tasting menu and that is THE WAY to go. We will be back

Stayed here one night while touring local colleges. We really enjoyed our stay. Hotel was clean. Rooms are very nice with wood floor not gross carpet. Beds were comfy. Loved the lobby bar at end of the day and a nightcap. Would definitely stay here again.

This is not a luxury hotel it is an upscale 3 star at best. My room, 405 started off with small issues and just built to an experience that made me not want to return. Firstly, the toilet seat tab was broken. I notified the staff about this on my way out. I was told there was no engineer available to fix the issue but she was making a note. Also I was told upon my arrival, new keys would be waiting for me to move into a new room. I explained that I had sprayed and wiped down my room upon my arrival but if keys would be waiting I would move. I return after a couple of hours and a new person is on shift. Not only are the new room keys not made, this person was not even informed of the issue, there are no notes in my file that I've had an issue and nothing left for engineering to even fix the safety issue. I returned to my room and dealt with the broke tab issue just to take a shower that would not turn hot, a crawling bug on the ceiling, broken a/c unit that would not reach my desired temp and ran all night long. A crumbling headboard that drops pieces in your eyes and on your body. Rough sheets that would be found in a 1 star hotel that made me sweat all night laying on a mattress that only had only a pad with no zipped cover. The mattress it self is horrible. More lumps, bumps and sink holes than I85. At best 3 hours of sleep and I checked out over 8 hours early due to the temperature and mattress issues. Check out individual was of no assistance and had on a scrub top? Check out individual offered no assistance with reported issues.Noteworthy details: Hotel website description does not match actual property experience and feel.

Hotel bar is a sh*t show. Some tables have the bartender coming to the table to take orders, others are having to walk up to the bar to place their orders. Have some consistency. This is a signature hotel in Chapel Hill, so make sure you have some attention to detail on how to serve patrons. Simple!

A lovely hotel with very friendly and helpful staff. The bar is welcoming (Liz, Luis), the dinner menu superb! All homemade pastas, even homemade limincello for special martinis. Very relaxing ambiance after busy days. Check in very efficient. Rooms very comfortable and large. The only thing that bothered me was the musty smell in the room - I guess due to the humidity in the area. An air freshener/filter was brought into the room and helped a little. I would gladly return to this wonderful property.Food & drinks: I had the lobster ravioli, burrata salad one night and bolognese the next night. Both nights enjoyed cannolis - great wine selection as well. Their food is delicious!

This is a gem of a Marriott-family property. Highlights included: large rooms with generous bathroom and shower; a property-wide commitment to its unique Italian theme; great on-site restaurant and proximity to downtown Chapel Hill and fantastic walking/running path. But the true gem was the staff, who were polite and accommodating throughout the stay. Was Ritz-level at a Marriott price, honestly. Hope to visit again.
