Difficult course which they recently redid m. Very nice but very difficult. The drainage is still very poor. Clubhouse is ok and dated but the UNC facilities are by far amazing and new UNC clubhouse will make it one of the best in the country by far.

The university golf course with funding from the university(so students and alumni) did a $13 million renovation only to price out students and most of the residents of chapel hill. If you want to hit balls have fun paying $25 each time, or if that’s to cheap you can choose the $375/quarter practice membership. And if your a student who actually wants to play golf you can pay $4000/yr for a membership(they use to be ~400) or $105/round. And that’s on top of the tens of thousands you’re already paying to the university. Maybe they’re trying to pretend to be as elite as Dukes course, but I mean at leasts Dukes course is nice and well designed.Besides the greens being better the course hasn’t improved nearly enough to justify the prices. Imagine nearly doubling prices just because you switched some of the holes on the front with some of the holes on the back. Also a large chunk of the funding just went to the golf teams facilities. Realistically, this is just a ploy by rich donors to make the course less accessible to students and average Chapel Hill residents. If they really wanted to stop students/average people from mixing with the distinguished and wealthy boomer alumni of UNC(no students actually care about you) they really should of just made the course private. Also sucks as there are no other options near campus and many students don’t have proper transportation on campus to go to other courses because the university can’t get their act together with parking but can give $13 million to slightly improve a golf course for the rich alumni and athletes. This is really just a massive middle finger to students and residents by Finley, the University, and the boosters. Great job growing the game for younger generations.

This used to be one of my favorite courses and it used be a nice place to practice. Just went there with my son at 4pm to hit just a few balls and they told me it would be $50 for a "half day pass" (but I’d get to use all the practice area ?) - and they were closing in 30 minutes. When I said we only wanted to hit a few balls and that they were closing shortly any way, the GM or manager behind the counter told me "well, you dont have to hit balls here and can go on to somewhere else!!!" I had driven 40 minutes to pick up my son and go there and there really isnt another option near by. Both my kids are at UNC CH and I'm embarrassed that this is the new policy - on top of which is that I believe the $13M renovation was done with what I consider a third rate course designer...SAD.

Finally we had a tee time to play this newly renovated golf course, after a year long waiting. The course layout doesn’t change much except for swapping the back nine holes for the front nine holes. Nevertheless I have to say the greens are superbly built, redeeming the money

Just got back in town after course redo. Really liked range before. Now find they really don’t want public there at a state university $25 charge for a senior to hit a few balls per day. Tokens I had from last year not redeemable either. Wow, the Country club at UNC. II don’t know who’s great idea that was but Unfortunately you just look cheap and tacky, really sad guys.

Course is in amazingly good shape with all brand new bunkers and greens. Carts are really nice and the layout is still cool. Will play it often.

Used to come out here to hit balls on my lunch break or after work, was six dollars for a bucket or so. Now, post-renovation, it’s $25 for a practice pass (they close at 5, pass is for when range is open to public, which they said at the pro shop is from Wednesday-Sunday 1-5). This model makes zero sense, except if, as seems obvious, the goal is to prevent people from using the (public) facility who don’t have the money to blow $25 or leisure time to spend all afternoon there, rather than popping by after work. Really disappointing, was a nice facility where a lot of people could learn the game, but I guess that’s not really part of their mission anymore.

I've never played golf before, but it looks like a nice golf course.

Fun place to come shoot a couple holes. Never to crowded. Driving range has beautiful views around sunset.

First time playing it last week and for $100 it’s not worth it. Nice course but only worth half that green fee. Very slow greens…wouldn’t play it again

great track. The bend grass greens take a hit in the hot hot NC summers but the layout is top notch and the entire area is great.

This a great course to play! Play smart and you can shoot well. If you get aggressive, you will be in the pines searching for your ball. The pro shop is great, but a tad small.
