We take posting reviews very seriously, and I’ve never left a negative review, but this one is more for the people researching local pharmacies to avoid this particular pharmacy.
Our daughter had to go to the urgent care on Monday evening, March 31st, due to a rabbit bite. It was after hours and the doctor prescribed an antibiotic. The script was sent over to this particular Walgreens pharmacy to be filled. It was later in the evening, but the pharmacist received the script well before closing time.
When we arrived to get the prescription, it was 7:45. The pharmacy closes at 8pm. I work in healthcare and so I know what it feels like to work a long day and so I totally understand that people want go home. We were treated very rudely by the pharmacist and scolded for not coming in earlier. We informed the pharmacist that we had an urgent visit and this was when the doctor sent over the prescription.
We would recommend avoiding this pharmacy and using the one on Franklin Street. That Walgreens pharmacy is wonderful to work with.

I’ve been a Walgreens customer for nearly 20 years. I’ve been a customer in Raleigh, Philadelphia, Nashville, Durham, then Chapel Hill. I’ve NEVER had an issue until we moved to Orange County, NC and began using the Walgreens at Weaver Dairy and MLK. OMG. Every pick up, drop off is a nightmare! They always want to blame my insurance or my doctor. NOPE. This is THE MOST INCOMPETENT pharmacy I’ve ever used. My doctor’s office even begged me to switch. And we are.

I heard this place is shutting down, and a bunch of stores nationwide are closing too.

I was prepared for poor service based on the reviews and honestly still surprised. Checked in early for a scheduled appointment, waited until more than twenty minutes after the scheduled start time, went up to the counter to make sure they were even taking appointments, and the pharmacist, Sandra, was immediately rude and hostile. A huge difference from the one on Jones Ferry. What an incredible waste of time.

Poor service, most of the pharmacy staff is not friendly and they take a lot of time to get the medication ready. Ended up switching to the Harris Teeter Pharmacy, service is much better

This year I’ve been given the wrong prescription inside the right packaging, a prescription was put under the wrong profile (both with different first names) delaying the ability to pick up the RX, and constantly have issues with their system communicating with insurance. Picked up my last refill today and transferred all prescriptions to the Harris Teeter across the street.

The pharmacy here is probably the worst. The lady that worked with me today did not smile, did not say anything nice such as “how are you?” Or “thank you.” Or even “bye”. She confirmed my identify, in a very business like style of communication, and gave me the medicine, and that was it.
Luckily this is the pharmacy for my children. And I don’t need to visit this place more than a few times a year. Only reason for my family to use this location is its closeness.

Terrible experience with the pharmacy. They don't refresh their systems on weekends and claim they haven't got prescriptions form doctors' offices when they clearly have been sent (having seen the documentation with my own eyes). Not super proactive or responsive. The urgent care told me they often have problems with Walgreens on weekends. Rarely with HT pharmacy or CVS.

Since when do you need an ID to buy Alka-Seltzer for a cough or a cold????? This is not a narcotic and I went to your store on MLK in Chapel Hill where the lady refused to sell me Alka-Seltzer even though I'm sick and I have gray hairs and you can see that I am not a kid and that I really needed it for purposes of being sick so I can feel better and she wanted me to run back to my car and get my identification so that I can provide her my ID to purchase Alka-Seltzer!! Absolutely absurd! Please show me the law that states this or the policy that demands this?? If I was feeling better I would have definitely asked for a manager/supervisor because what the cashier did was very unnecessary. Walgreens, do better, train your people better. Feel free to reach out.

Good luck getting them to answer the phone

The pharmacy part of this Walgreens is incompetent. Everytime I’ve tried to use them for my prescriptions for Carolina Urgent Care (which is close by) it’s always been an unpleasant event. This Walgreens pharmacists supposedly never receive the requests, and they never let the docs know if there is a problem with the order so outsiders have to do the work for them. TERRIBLE pharmacy service. And they are SO RUDE. Overall description…rude and incompetent and lazy.

Pharmacy and staff are always kind and willing to help customers.
I love this place rather than any other places.
I recommend this Walgreens.

The pharmacy always has this sign, “no drive-thru due to staffing shortage”. They rarely answer their phone too. Not sure what’s going on? I do think a pharmacy should be functional. Especially, with a corporation like Walgreens. I don’t know if their pay is too low for anyone to apply? I would be willing to apply….I’m an RN though, so they’re going to do better than bare minimum pay. Still, I be willing to come & help out. This is just too sad.
