Please do not forget to fill up the car with gas upon return. This company is charging me $115 for a half a tank. Guy at the counter asked me if I wanted to prepay but didn’t have the courtesy to tell me I would be beat in the head if I forgot to fill up. He rushed me through the checkout. I hate fraudulent companies that take advantage of their customers. At the most I thought they would charge $3.25 or a few cents over the prepaid price but to accumulate all these charges just because you can is disgusting.$115 is more than I paid to rent the car.Never again. I can’t with the trickery.

They provided us a car that was mechanically unsound with a flashing check engine light and was stuck waiting around for 30 minutes for cleaning. Awful experience, would not recommend.

UPDATE: Avis management did reach out and refunded 1/2 of the fee, so rating revised from one star to 2 stars. Should probably review either company gas rate or staffing quality.
ORIGINAL: The WORST!! Zero stars not an option. Rented car with a friend recently and forgot to put 2 gallons of gas in the car. Charged $70.00!!!! This is extortion! How is everything else regulated, but a car rental company is allowed to gouge you like this?! This has never happened with another company. DO NOT recommend!! Avoid Avis and any other companies with unscrupulous practices.

Worst company ever, they made me wait in the line for 2 hrs and also by the counter I waited for one hour. When I ask, why is it taking too long? They just reply, you’ve been here by the counter for just one hour. So they basically take a three hours of time just to swap the car and this is not the first time I’m renting a car here, this is the fourth time same experience.

Mohammad,this employee deserves an award. I was stranded by American airlines along with the rest of my flight at 1:45am, luckily I made it to avis in time to be able to drive to my final destination. He was SO incredibly kind, went out of his way, and even stayed beyond his shift to help myself and another girl who were stranded. I am so grateful for his act of kindness, and will be a returning Avis customer due to this. Mohammed if you are reading this thank you so much for being a gem!

Slow doesn't begin to describe.
I've been in line here at CLT Avis for an hour. All the other rental counters are moving along. There are five Avis agents working slower than molasses. I'm about 2/3 the way there. Whatever money I saved renting here went out the window. This is the second year in a row this happened to me at this location. Shame on me for a short memory.... Go to Enterprise, Alamo, national instead. They clearly check their customers thru as I watch them come and go....

Had a car at the last minute but it was a vw tocs it was a bad start from the beginning the left rear tire was low and I stopped every day to fill it notified them n nothing so I will never own or rent another

I would start this off saying there was poor customer service. But that would be a lie because there WAS NO CUSTOMER SERVICE. Additionally I only left 1 Star because it made me, if I could it would’ve been -34 stars. Anyway, after renting my first rental car, One tire was rapidly losing air as I was driving on the highway and two others were completely bald. When returning to rectify this issue, I had the DISpleasure of dealing with the lady with long orange nails and beauty supply lashes. She was absolutely horrid, and I’m still trying to figure out how she got hired. She clearly doesn’t care to keep her job which unfortunately is not my issue. The neck popping and locking was unnecessary paired with a nasty eye roll when it’s THIS COMPANY that caused ME the disservice. So I’m not sure how that resulted in all of those theatrics but her performance needs to be evaluated immediately and I’ll be by to double check. 8/1/2025 @3:20PM at the Charlotte Douglass International Airport.

If I could, I'd give this place NO stars... Avis Car Rental company in general cares nothing for their customers and do not treat individuals with respect and care. Horrible company to rent from.

Very long lines. Employees were nice but the system was atrocious. We had a reservation for a truck but they didn't have any available. We waited for 2 hours and finally got a different vehicle. It seemed like everyone in line had to wait for a long time for whatever they had reserved. Very frustrating.
