I encountered a highly distressing incident at the Dollar Cat rental during my inaugural visit to Charlotte airport. The desk agent, Zara, exhibited a shocking lack of professionalism. Despite my request, she declined to disclose her last name or initial and was conspicuously devoid of any identification, such as a name tag. Zara went to the extent of threatening to void my reservation, when I returned to the counter after she neglected to tell me how to find the rental vehicle I just paid for..Additionally, Zara proceeded to audibly assert, seemingly with the intent to embarrass, that the next counter shares ownership with the company [so I can keep walking and not stand in the neaby line]. Such behavior is utterly unacceptable and reflects poorly on the quality of personnel and customer service.Traveling, particularly alone with children, is inherently stressful. The actions of this employee, coupled with her apparent lack of understanding, raise serious concerns about her suitability for a role that involves frequent interaction with the public, especially during periods of heightened tension caused by unforeseen travel delays. I am prepared to engage in a detailed discussion with Dollar regarding this deeply unprofessional incident. As of today, 11/25, no one has contacted me.

This is PURELY a customer service review; has nothing to do with quality of car or company.I was in a pickle due to a lost item in Michigan. Dom was so graceful and did all he could to empathize and help. He was kind and gracious in a time when I needed it most because the company he worked for left a LOT to be desired with what I was experiencing.Thank you, Dom, for being a shining light when my experience was dim.

Horrible experience. Go anywhere else, even if you pay more it is worth missing the headaches and being lied to. I've used this company when I visit for work or pleasure but the last couple times they have swapped cars to a smaller car. The last time, they had the right car but this time they said they did not. The wait at the counter was over an hour. Every other counter was promptly working through customers while the Dollar counter employees processed a person every 15 minutes. The "pre check-in" process to speed up your time doesn't work. Employee tells us 'oh that never works" and proceeds to ask every "up sale" question that I'd already covered in the check in. The Hertz counter was having customers come over to their counter to help when they were caught up, but it was still 2 hours from landing to leaving the airport. I will never use them again.

Have reservation for a car. They tell me 2 hrs wait.... why do a reservation? I'm sure if I don't return it in time, they will have an issue.. Tired of waiting. Not acceptable!!

Made a reservation through AAA, there were two options for the weekly rate I chose: "electric" or "compact" and I chose compact. My rate for $561 for 2 weeks. At check in I was told they only had electric vehicles available for my rate, but I could get a compact for $200 more for the two weeks we rented a car! On top of $741 charge, they also charged an ADDITIONAL $200 security - this is price gouging. You can't make a same day reservation elsewhere for a car on AAA, or Hertz, or Enterprise - so we literally had no other options but to be held financially hostage. Also, Dollar rental booth is very hard to find at CLT Airport!

This company is not worth the headache or hassle. We were given a car with damage to the right side and a cracked windshield.Something in the wheel was also not right (tons of brake dust and dragged), after paying for roadside on the reservation, we were told to bring the car back over an hour to the airport. Unless the vehicle is completely disabled, they won't help you. Filled the car with fuel we just drove an hour with.New car had no gas in it and new rental ageement showed that. I was also told we would be refunded for having to drive an hour back to the airport. This is after being passed around through customer service. Fast forward, we bring the car back and get charged double charged $272 & 271 for fuel!!!I have been calling everyday for the refunds and keep getting random emails and now letters in the mail for my charges!I am not currently out 272, 271.78, and 313 with no end or resolution in sight. This is our 2nd time using dollar, first time our car was definitely smoked in.Never again.Lessons learned:Never book ahead or reservePay cashThis should be reported to the BBB

After a red eye flight and a nightmare in the airport where everything went wrong and nobody was helpful, our car rental was smooth and easy thanks to Ranita! She is pleasant, efficient, and an excellent employee overall. She is a real gem, and you guys are would do well to give her a raise and anything else it takes to keep her on your staff. The young man in the garage (whose name I failed to get) was also helpful and friendly. Your employees helped remind us that traveling on a budget doesn’t need to be a painful experience - quite the opposite!

I strongly suggest you do not rent cars from Dollar Rent A Car. I recently flew to Charlotte NC and was happy when there was no line at the Dollar rental counter. I soon found out why....they didn't have any cars and wouldn't have any for 2 hours! They did offer to rent me a Mercedes for $400/day. I declined and since I needed to be somewhere within 2 hours I ended up renting from another company at 3X the rate promised by Dollar via the AAA website.

I rented a vehicle with this Dollar Rental Car location and got pushed to accept a large SUV when I rented a compact. I refused so waited until a car finally became available that wasn't a large vehicle (I ended up with a sedan). During the first day of driving the remote's battery had trouble working, we presumed from the battery. I was concerned about the remote might stop working and leave us stranded without getting into the car or starting it (there was no physical key, nor did the car have a slot/hole for a key). After spending time on the phone with customer support, I could either return the car or get roadside assistance. Since we were hours away from the airport, we opted for neither and replaced the battery at our own cost. We were told to have mention it up return to get reimbursed. We replaced the battery, which corrected the issue. Upon return of the car, we mentioned it and it was written up on the car. We were told it would be taken off the final charges. Obviously, I'm here writing that there was no reimbursement of our out of pocket charges. The renter should not need to take their own time and money to do basic maintenance of the rented vehicle to keep it operational. Despite being told that I'd be reimbursed for these charges, I haven't been. It's just a remote's battery but it is required to get access into the car and start the ignition.

This is the worst car rental service to rent from. If you want to be overcharged and worst customer service this is the place for you!!I started with issues:1. When going to the airport to check in for my reservation the lady at the counter as me if I wanted to pay for gas and get their insurance and road side assistance I stated no. The lady whole attitude turned sour because I declined all the things she was asking me2. Its time to return the car back at the airport., I leave the key fob on the door cup., I receive a call from one of the people that's checking the car in saying that I took the key with me and I had been charged $250.00 for a missing key. I told the lady that the key was on the door. she giggles a little and say oh I'm sorry I didn't see that. she said I will reverse the transaction. (vou shouldn't charge someone's card until you actually look for the key first and call and ask the customer first)3. When I rent from any car company I make sure I put the gas back in the car before returning it. I take a look at the charge on my Credit card and notice their is a charge for gas., When i brought the card back on a full tank. (so pissed off) that was an extra $137.004. Call into their contact center ( the most rudest people i ever spoke with) to see why I'm being charged for fuel when the car came back on a full tank. the lady that helped me was so rude and was over talking me and hung up on me.I sais all of that to say this..Don't go through this company for rental car service. Avoid all of the issues Ihad to go through and just rent from another company.. Dollar rental is so unprofessional and will charge your card for unauthorized transactions. I don't know if they are taking people money by over charging them or not.

Nicole was the most amazing help. I really did not know that the service had booked me an electric vehicle and when you have to travel long distances that can’t work. She help me switch my vehicle to gas and helped me understand what to look for when getting a rental. Nicole is the best sweetest person and so helpful. The return was just and smooth and helpful amazing team. Will definitely use again.

I rented a car with dollar and had numerous issues. Since they share customer service with hertz, I will be saying hertz for the sake of it.I called customer service which did not help me one bit.I pre purchased fuel, however, I was told by the employee at the counter at charlotte airport that I would only get charged for the amount of fuel they had to put in.Knowing that, I delivered the vehicle with a full tank. Now I received a email saying almost 60USD will be deducted from my CC, for fuel they didn’t put in!!!!The dollar employee gave me false information, that’s the last drip on the nightmare of a rental I have had!The first car tried to kill me, having the brake failing on me mid on the highway. After that event, the car started to shake a lot over 60mph. I had to drive 150 miles back to Charlotte.I received a new vehicle, a Toyota Camry which was filthy and smelled really bad! I didn’t complain because I needed to get going.I occurred a lot of road noise but didn’t complain. Mid in my trip I got 2 punctures, having called hertz and being promised a new car, I went to hertz Bowling Green, KY.They didn’t have a car and sent me to a tire shop, which costed me half my day… AGAIN.The tire shop changed all 4 tires because the thread on the tires was completely gone! This car shouldn’t be even driving with such tires. I may speak of luck for not having an accident. Now dollar are charging me almost 60USD for fuel they didn’t even put in since I delivered the car with a full tank. Like I said, not knowing that I would be charged, since the employee told me faulty info…The customer service colleague said I will be charged anyways!!!! Because I don’t have a receipt proving a tanked before delivering the vehicle!!?!I then continued to say I had the credit card deduction and location to show. Which seems not to be acceptable. In the deduction from my credit card is to see the location and time. Which was in the night of the day before, where I filled the tank at the shell on this location: 1300 W Sugar Creek Rd, Charlotte, NC 28262, United States. Which is 9,7 miles from the airport. My rental was already a nightmare, last thing I need is to be robbed for 60USD. And rental refuses to help me on this matter.I was willing to neglect the car issues, as such things “may” happen. But being robbed is too much on the already long list of issues.

First time using this company and it was a bad experience so we won't be using them again. We waited over an hour after a long day of travel with my elderly parents with us to finally be told the vehicle we rented wasn't there anymore. They finally gave us an upgraded vehicle and quickly ushered us out of there to find out the girl never added an additional driver like we thought she did and she never reviewed any of the additional charges she tacked on. One of them was insurance to the tune of $700+ that we never agreed to. I have tried to get a refund to know avail, with zero follow up from Dollar so I have now disputed it with my credit card company. Such a bad experience. Don't use them.Update: I successfully disputed this with my credit card company but they have now sent me a bill for something I never approved or signed up for. There is no way to get anyone to assist you and the local company has refused to honor the refund and they will probably report my credit if I don't pay. It is truly unbelievable.

So, I offered thrifty the chance to avoid this review, but ok. So I arrive in Las Vegas, after having chosen and paid for a rental car thru thrifty. I am first presented with all the formalities, checking my id/payment/etc. then after they make sure they have their money set up for themselves, I am told “we have no rental cars now, and it’ll be 3-5 hours before we do and theres nothing I can do”. So I wait in the crazy line for 3 hours. Finally get a 2 door car (rented a 4 door). While waiting in line for my rental that they didn’t have I was subjected to passive aggressive treatment by their Facebook messenger team, for what reason idk, thanks Tiana for being rude and unhelpful, you too Kerri. No help, no care, no reimbursement. Just don’t rent with thrifty and you might be ok, they don’t care if they fulfill their end of the rental agreement, like actually having a car for u to rent, as long as u pay for it. This might not happen to you, but it happened to about 50 people I saw that night. And the company was rude to us when we asked for help or reimbursement, it’s up to you to do business with thrifty if this is the experience you’d like to have. No thanks, I’ll pay more for better service next time. Never thrifty, never again.

Accepted my reservation online, I arrived at the airport and they had zero cars. They tried to explain how "the system" the works and why it gave me a conturbarono number when in fact there were no cars, as if that means anything to a confirmed customer for whom they have nothing to offer. But if I come back in the morning, there's s pretty good chance.. AVOID AT ALL COSTS unless you don't mind having a confirmed reservation that may or may not actually exist in reality.
