The Salvation Army around Charlotte and Gastonia all get their clothes from a warehouse now where they place metal staples into all the clothing, placing holes in everything. Also, they sort through everything prior to bringing the donations into the stores to remove anything of value. They also individually price items and charge way too much for Jeans ($7.00) a pair. For god's sake people, you get this stuff for FREE, don't be so stingy with the things people donate and create a system where people don't want to shop there anymore. I will never shop at a Charlotte or surrounding area location again. They're way too high and there's nothing of any value to look for anymore.

They don't tell you the window of when they will arrive and leave if you are not home within 5 minutes. Trying to help a good organization but terrible service with the local branch.

I would like to express my concerns about Brett Cundiff and the Salvation Army Adult Rehabilitation Center in Charlotte, North Carolina. This is where I believe my spouse and father of my 1 year old son, Kenneth Sutton is currently being harbored. The reason I believe this is that three days ago on Thursday March 14th, after Kenneth and I had a disagreement on the status of our relationship. He told me that Brett Cundiff would be picking him up and transporting him to the center. I also believe this because I seen a message from Mr. Cundiff on Kenneths Facebook, the message stated "here" and it arrived very shortly before Kenneth departed. I can only assume that because of Mr. Cundiffs position as an administrator for the Salvation Army, that he would be transporting him to the rehabilitation center. We reside about 2 hours away from Charlotte, within 4 hours of our disagreement he was picked up and transported away from our residence. During the transport Kenneth explain to me that he would not be able to contact me for 30 days. He also said that they did not want him speaking on the phone even during the transport and they wanted him to give up the phone. After stating that he suddenly hung up the phone. I then received a text from him saying " he almost got caught". That did not sound very kosher to me, if you know what I mean. The following message sent was him asking me to say come back and he will come back. The final message I received was him telling me that he had arrived at the rehabilitation center, and that he loves me, and that this would be his last text to me. I have not spoken with Kenneth since. That evening I contacted Mr. Cundiff through facebook Messenger, and informed him of mine and Kenneths current situation. I had explained to him that I paid for Kenneth to come here from Florida, and that it had put me in a finacial strain. I told him that Kenneth had been provided with employment to compensate for the debt and further support his family. I also made him aware that his sobriety was not in jeopardy, that he has no means to get ahold of drugs or alcohol here. In so many words. I expressed to him that I believe Kenneth had abandoned his obligations in order to avoid dealing with relationship issues. I told him that I did not agree with what was explained to me about him not being able to communicate with me for 30 days. I stated to him that I don't see how cutting someone off from their family completely it's supposed to help them or their family. I then explain to him that I felt that Kenneth needed to be released from the program in order to rectify his debt to me, and try to recover our family. I told him that I could understand if he did not agree with my request. That I just hope that he could at least offer Kenneth and I the courtesy of relaying the message and let him make the decision for himself. I then apologized for burdening him with our situation and thanked him for his time. That concluded the message. The following afternoon my concern really begin to grow, after seeing that morning that Mr. Cundiff had opened my message, and I still had not received a phone call from Kenneth. I then sent him another message, saying that I seen that he had opened the previous message I sent, and that I expected a call from Kenneth by that evening letting me know his decision. I also expressed to him that my civility toward this matter was brief, and that my patientience would diminish quickly if I felt that I was not being recognized. I once again thank him for his time. I then swiftly received a response from Mr. Cundiff stating in his exact words... Legally, I can neither confirm nor deny that he is in our program. This is all the information I will give you and I will have no further conversation with you. Then a message appeared reading you can't reply to this conversation. I have not heard from Mr. Cundiff since and Kenneth still has not contacted me.

The Salvation Army Christmas Bureau does amazing things for the Charlotte and surrounding community. Our recent volunteer event was a tremendous success as a result of the Salvation Army staff and organization. It was great working with the staff there for this event. All of the recipients were very happy!!! It is an amazing opportunity to give back!!!! I highly recommend that everyone volunteer with the Salvation Army!

This is Salvation Army housing, not a thrift store.
