Excellent customer service. I was unsure what to do with my online TIAA account, so I spoke by phone with Brennan at the TIAA Charlotte office. He was very professional, competent, and personable. There was also very little wait time. It was one of the best experiences I've had with any customer service phoneline.

Pray you don't have a home owners insurance claim. They have the most convoluted, frustrating, waste of time process ever. It is easier to buy a house than to get them to release the payments for my contractors. My insurance company was easy to deal with (AIG) but TIAA Bank has been a nightmare. What a bureaucratic maze.

TIAA has been my Home for many years. I love our organization - awesome work culture with amazing people - our company is truly the best place to work! I am so lucky and fortunate to be a part of this warm and loving family.

I've not been able to close and move my account to another institution, that is the plain fact. I've gotten the runaround, have completed their application multiple times and still no service on their part. They are making it difficult on purpose to rollover over your money if you ever need or want to so that you keep it with them. They say I've missed an item (frivolous as it is) on the form when indeed I have not as I made copies for myself. I've filed a complaint with the SEC over this, as this is serious and people need to know. I would steer clear of this institution.

Non-Disclosure of Unwritten Rules for their Brokerage Acct really screwed me. I opened an IRA and invested in a fund. I was told I could set up an automatic systematic investment and the (High) $50 Transaction Fees would be waived. After the initial purchase, their website didn't allow systematic investments. The next phone rep told me that I needed to meet the $1m minimum before I would be allowed to make systematic investments. If they allowed me to buy into the fund, I's inexplicable how I couldn't use the systematic feature. I'm not willing to pay a $50 fee each time I buy (which is what they're hoping I do). I'm now initiating a full transfer out to Vanguard. BTW, their fees for the transfer...$130 "IRA Termination Fee" + $50 Full Transfer Fee = $180! It's worth the $180 to get out of this lame TIAA brokerage account. You may want to research other options before opening an account here.

If you have your investments here, please be sure to close your accounts before you die. Leaving your beneficiaries the arduous task of dealing with the indifference and incompetence of their beneficiary support staff (if you actually manage to get someone on the phone) is just cruel.
