I would NEVER recommend Midway Medical as a primary care facility. I just started with them in January 2023 with Dr. Porter and came down with the flu in December 2023 and asked my doctor to call me in tamiflu. I was told he would not call me in that without seeing me. Wanting me to come out of bed as I was sick and my children were all sick with the same thing as my youngest had tested positive for flu type a via the urgent care several days prior and further spread the flu. I went on the portal to send a message to Dr. Porter and voice my concerns which I never do. As of today I received a call from the office administrator at Midway Medical that the practice is severing ties with me. I could not believe it. I was not given a choice in the matter. I haven’t even spoken to Dr. Porter directly. I was told I would receive a letter and recommended facilities accepting new patients and they would refill my prescriptions for 30 days. Just poor practice. One other time I was sick and not with Covid as I tested myself at home, I was asked to come to the office all to be told to pull around outside to the back of the office when Dr. Kinter and his assistant came out to my vehicle in full hazmat gear all to tell me it was viral. Treating me as if I had some kind of plague. Just poor practice. I made it clear I would not recommend any family or friends to them and would make my situation known.

Re-evaluated: the office has really expanded over the past year. Scheduling is now under control. The staff is always nice and polite. Dr. Porter is always professional and listens to his patients concerns. This is a phenomenal family doctors' office.

Since Dr. Porter is not man enough to see me face to face to discuss his lack of competency in medicine, and Sherry Wilson is totally useless on the Administrative side and will not return phone calls, I wanted to pass along here that I have gladly shared my experience with the Medical Board for review. Do better, Porter. Shame on you, sir. There WAS NO CARE from this provider or staff....

I love Dr. Porter. He is a great doctor and I would recommend him to anyone. Everyone is nice and polite when in the office. The problem came with the billing. My insurance was billed and denied due to being "Out of Network" (even though my insurance is listed on their site as insurance accepted and they are listed in network for my insurance). I told them shortly after realizing the error and was told they would rebill it only to be told I have a large bill that needs to be paid before I can schedule another appointment. Having expressed this concern multiple times, I have since been refused appointments until the egregious bill was paid. I was never offered payment plans and I was always told that they were working to correct the issue. Never got any communication from them that the attempts to correct had failed, minus the termination letter telling me to pay in full or face termination. Absolutely no help from billing at all. Only ever met with "I don't know what to tell you. You need to pay it before we can schedule you." I don't work in billing and I understand that mistakes happen and a simple letter off can cause a request to be denied but the absolute lack of communication is deplorable as someone who has a chronic condition that should be monitored. Absolutely disgusting behavior.

My husband as well as extended family are patients at Midway Medical and have been for years. The receptionist's are super nice , couldn't ask for a better place or group of Dr's and nurses.....

The services I receive at Midway Medical are excellent. Dr. Ritter is very personable and spends time explaining things and addressing concerns. She is thorough and compassionate. My appointments don’t feel rushed. The office staff is always friendly and professional. When I need to be seen, they get me in quickly. I would recommend Midway to anyone.

Yes, I am an employee of Midway, and have been for many years. However, I have been a patient at this office for much longer (33 years to be exact). No matter what doctor I see, I have received excellent care and treated with respect. I have gotten many of my friends and fellow teachers to become patients here, and they have all been pleased.

Very unprofessional and poor communication. Had a ultrasound done on a Thursday and was supposed to have results back on the following Monday. It took them two and a half weeks to get the results and that's after I had to call the the facility that did the ultrasound and ask for the results to be sent to the doctor and they said that they had sent them weeks ago. Then I go to my appointment and was 6 minutes late and they told me it was to late. That was supposed to be my second appointment, my first appointment I went for severe pain in my side and the doctor had me convinced that I needed to get my gallbladder taken out and that it was an urgent matter. I was in so much pain I couldn't sleep for more than an hour without waking up. Then I never heard from them about my lab results or my ultrasound and they cancelled my appointment for being 6 minutes late and rescheduled for the following day about 30 minutes after they rescheduled I got a call from them saying that they were no longer available to be my doctor that I would be a better fit at another doctor office. Showing no concern about the severity of my condition. Never discussed anything with me about my gallbladder or what I needed to do. Just completely blew me off leaving me untreated and in severe pain and discomfort and without proper medical attention. I'm just praying that this doesn't cause me to have any problems because of the delay in treatment and the time it takes having to find another facility.

I switched to Midway a little over a year ago to have a doctor more conveniently located to me. I have not been disappointed. Everyone I have encountered has been very friendly and approachable. Dr. Porter is very patient and takes his time meeting with you. Would highly recommend.

I'm a very happy patient of Dr. Julia Hartley, and I've also seen many of the Midway physicians for evening or weekend work-in appointments. Everyone is extremely professional and caring. We're so lucky to have world-class care in our community!

I became a patient at Midway Medical Center after I witnessed the care and compassion that is given to the patients. I have been a patient for 13 years and have never regretted my decision. I would recommend this office to anyone needing a primary care physician.

I went to Midway Medical for the first time approximately 16 years ago, after having moved to the area from out of state. I’ve enjoyed a continuum of quality care throughout those years.I’m very grateful for Dr. Kinser, who is my primary care physician. Dr. Kinser actively listens to me regarding my medical issues. He explains treatment plans with me and makes sure I have a clear understanding of what is involved. I never feel I am being rushed out the door during my appointment!Maggie, Dr Kinser’s medical assistant, is the consummate “right arm” to both Dr. Kinser and his patients. She can always be relied on to follow up on referrals, tests etc. to assure timely results for the patient.In addition, Midway Medical’s administrative staff is extremely pleasant and accommodating. Heather is one of those who has always gone out of her way to help with all of my asks. She is such a wonderful patient – admin liaison!Needless to say, I am so glad a friend recommended Midway Medical to me many years ago. I do not believe you could go anywhere around to find a better quality of care.

I have been a patient of Dr. Leverue at Midway Medical Center for nearly 20 yrs. I love her and her staff dearly. When I go In sick she DOES NOT stop until she finds out what is wrong. She has gone to the extent of virtual calls as well. Not only does she take care of me BUT my family as well.

My husband and I are patients at Midway and we consider this office to be the best medical facility, by far, of all of them that we use! They excel in their caring attitude from the moment you walk in. Dr. Porter is kind, efficient and a great listener. The medical assistants are always friendly. You can call and get an appointment in a reasonable time and the wait times in the office are never long.When we have to refill a prescription, we receive a call back when it is called in and a text message as well. Their communication skills are unequal to any other office. And their online portal is also very user friendly and quickly updated with any new exam results and office visit recaps.We thank everyone, including the office manager, front desk and behind-the-scenes staff, laboratory staff, nurses and doctors, for being the best medical facility, not only in Haywood County, but in the whole Western Carolina area, as far as our experience has shown!
