Friendly service of mostly locally sourced foods mostly of the "in a basket" type in a quaint post-industrial setting.

Stumbled across the pace while driving around and it is such a great find! I had the Cuban and was awesome. Wife had the pressed vegetable wrap that was stuffed with veggies and she loved it. Wish it was closer but we will definitely make plans to go back. Definitely one of our favorite!!!

The chicken fried steak was the size of a child's plate and not good, even though it was on special. There was a pound of mashed potatoes and the veggies had been half steamed so were half raw with no seasoning. They had put all of the chairs up on the table 45 minutes before closing and insisted they were still open. It was obvious the cook was mad that we came so he threw the food together.

Sadly, we were not impressed by this place. It's not what I would call a "Once & Done", but our experience left a lot to be desired. I think it could be better though, and that's why we'll make a return trip someday to give it another chance. First let me say they were out of the sirloin that my wife ordered, so she opted for the same special as me, the London Broil. The waitress returned with yet another bit of bad news, the Cheese curd appetizers were also no longer available, so we opted for the fried pickles. I must say, the pickles were delicious and hot. (Not spicy hot, just "out of the fryer" hot.) When our steak came, the London Broil was thinly sliced and laid out on our plates, mine with a potato casserole & wife's with green beans. There was a side of what I thought was au jus, but it was more like a thick gravy. After trying to cut my steak slices with my butter knife since we weren't given steak knives, I dipped a small slice into the gravy. It overwhelmed the steak, so I used it on my potatoes instead. Mmm, just right. The steak was MRare but awfully chewy, so much so that a couple of slices I just couldn't break down by chewing enough to swallow it. I decided to cut my slices smaller. That seemed to help. The steak had a decent taste to it and it was cooked as ordered, but it was just too chewy for our liking. Hating to give reviews like this, we're willing to give this place a second chance. The place was clean and the service was friendly. I sure hope the next time they gain another star from me.Update: The main reason for our return was their corn chowder soup? that we tried at "Empty bowls". This time, I had the smoked meat platter. The pulled pork looked more like roughly cut than shredded, but no big deal, the 2 bone rib was so charred, it lost it's juicyness, but for an extra buck, I got bbq sauce that had no tang, but it was better than the vinegar sauce. We enjoyed the Buffalo chicken appetizer as well as the hush puppies that came with my meal, but for me that was about it. Even the baked beans needed some help. My wife enjoyed her smoked chicken ravioli. I really wanted to like my meal this time, but it was just OK. Sausage was good, but my wife enjoyed it more than I did. Pork & ribs were dry. Sorry guys, this was your 2nd strike and I'm pretty sure we won't be back. It was definitely not worth the $75.00. I appreciate the use of local ingredients, but it'd be more pleasant to have it prepared well.
