I found too many personal discussions from the alter, and the wearing of sport jerseys and idle chatter while in the pulpit about sports teams jerseys, etc. from the pulpit.I find that distracting and being an inappropriate wasteful use of a pastor’s limited time to edify, teach, train and encourage the faithful.

We've been attending Rocky River Church for about 2 years now. We'd looked for YEARS for a church that wasn't too big where we felt welcomed, and not pressured to give over our financial ability to do so (many churches we attended had a large emphasis on giving, while the preachers/pastors enjoyed ridiculous luxury). We'd also wanted a church where it didn't matter what church you went to when you were younger, where they didnt get hung up on pointing out the differences between Baptist, Methodist, Catholic, etc...where we were all there for Christ...PERIOD. We were really drawn in by Pastor Jimmy's approach to the message. He teaches directly from the Scripture, and always adds historical context...and I've always felt like his messages are easy to understand...whether you are an avid biblical study, or someone finding their way around the Bible for the first time. He is by far one of the best speakers I've sat in front of.We began coming to Rocky River during Covid. Things were extremely tough on our entire society, and churches were not immune to this. However, the messages really helped us through some tough times. As for the person who commented about Jimmy being political, etc. during/since Covid, that is simply not true. On numerous occasions, we've watched Jimmy avoid politics at the pulpit. I KNOW he takes great care not to bring up 'hot button' issues. He preaches/teaches from the Bible. As Christians, we must be willing to sometimes hear difficult truths, to be convicted in our own lives...this is how we grow in Christ. That said, to this day, I've never heard Pastor Jimmy speak politically. Period.Since coming to Rocky River, my family and I have moved to Winston-Salem. However, we still drive the 1 + hour almost every Sunday to get to Rocky River. The fellowship, friendships, and most importantly, lessons we've learned in Christ have enriched mine and my wife's, and our kids' lives. I'm SO proud to say the influence of the youth leaders (Liz and Jeff), of course with Christ, have encouraged my daughter to become a youth pastor...could a father be more proud? Could OUR Father be more proud? If you've never attended Rocky River, check us out. If you're fed up looking for a church for you, like we were, check us out. If you're lost, check us out. No matter your situation, status, or circumstance, Rocky River Church is an AMAZING place to come worship, meet great people, and grow in Christ.

Pastor Jimmy is both a preacher and a biblical historian and is extremely intelligent in both fields. I have a small child in Sunday school and he looks forward to it every week! I have attended the men’s group, Forged, and my wife has attended woman’s group, The Well, and we enjoy the discussions in the small groups. They do a lot in the community and we are grateful to be a part of it. I would 100% recommend stopping by and bringing your family here.

We LOVED this church until COVID and the election •• then it all started to become nothing but politics and COVID opinions from the pastor. It was a major disappointment considering my husband and I were both baptized by him. I was heavily involved in the church and the functions and loved the women’s groups. However •• it is funny when something like this happens you learn REALLY quickly what it’s all about. It’s honestly sad.So we haven’t been able to find a new church yet and are struggling with it at this point but•• in time I know we will be lead in the right direction.

They host isports but don’t allow anyone to use the restroom inside and expect families to use an unkept diarrhea filled port-a-potty!! Don’t provide space to activities if you can provide sanitary bathroom accommodations!!!!
