About Katherine and Tom Belk Visual Arts Center
The Visual Arts Center houses the Van Every/Smith Galleries, primarily exhibiting nationally acclaimed contemporary artists. The building includes a lecture hall, seminar rooms, classrooms, and studio for art majors and faculty. *See homepage of Galleries's website (DavidsonCollegeArtGalleries.Org) to confirm Open Hours. Galleries are closed during College breaks and holidays including summer. Designed by Graham Gund, the building opened in 1993. It was modeled after two of Davidson's oldest buildings, Eumenaean Hall and Philanthropic Hall. In 1998, the building was named for Katherine McKay Belk and her husband Tom Belk, Class of 1946, both former members of the Board of Trustees. Kat also served on the Art Collection Advisory Committee.

Attractive, comfortable facility for study of Visual Arts. Have attended lectures by guest speakers and theatres very effective, with ample parking. The building is normally secured until just before an evening speech.
