I was refused a refund for an item that was not specified as non-refundable, even though I had my receipt and returned it within the allowed timeframe. The manager was incredibly rude and dismissive when I asked for the refund. Due to this poor customer service experience, I will not shop at this store again.

I haven't visited North Carolina in seven years. When I booked my trip I had Beauty World on my itinerary. I have always enjoyed shopping for wigs here. What a big disappointment this experience was. The fist thing I noticed was how the store was rearranged. The wig section is pretty much self serve. I guess due to Covid trying on wigs is not possible. There are anti theft sensors on everything making it impossible to even open the wig packaging to see the actual color and feel the texture of the hair. You can't really rely on the displays because the hair has been on display for so long the texture changes due to being handled. So I bought one anyway. What a waste of money. The wig is supposed to be human hair. This hair is so hard and sheds a lot. Well, it's a lesson learned. It won't happen again. I'll just wear this wig when it's raining and I have errands to run. I'm so disappointed. Beauty World used to be the highlight of my visit to North Carolina. SMH. I'll have to find another beauty supply. Any suggestions my fellow Yelpers?

While it’s super convenient to run by the store and grab exactly what hair you need especially in a bind, the up-charge is insane... looked up the package I just bought at the store for $86 (synthetic) was online for $34.99…. No clue if they make up prices as they go, but I’ve literally never spent the same amount on the same hair..

My daughter and I visited this location on 8/26/23. Upon ENTERING, the alarm beeped! The “security” guard, “Tiny Tim” started telling us that he needed to see our purse to deactivate something that may be inside that caused the alarm to beep. We told him he didn’t need to see our purse as he SAW THAT WE JUST WALKED IN! We continue to an aisle, where we overheard him telling the owner/manager that we wouldn’t allow him to deactivate our purses and stated that he “didn’t say we took anything!” The owner approaches us & said that “Tiny Tim” will need to deactivate our purse, because otherwise on our way out, he will have to see our purse and bags! We refused & stated, “WE JUST WALKED IN!” As well as, informed him that the alarm could be set off by a key fob, cell phone & etc. He told us if we didn’t let him deactivate our bags, we could leave! FYI: once he approached us, I KNEW I WAS NOT GOING TO SPEND ONE DOLLAR IN HIS STORE! These Asian business owners have ZERO RESPECT for our money, despite the BLACK dollar keeping them in business! I opted, to go to SUNNY’s Beauty instead. Also to point out, when we walked into SUNNY’s, the alarm beeped & a DURHAM POLICE OFFICER, was standing at the door & did NOT say one word to us! We shopped and left without any issues! Customer service is everything and this BEAUTY WORLD has NONE!

The store is amazing but the policy’s are horrible. You can’t try a wig on nor can you return a wig. It needs to be either or. It’s would be crazy to buy a 300 wig and you can’t try it on. Make that make since. The store is nice but for that reason I will not return there.

This is the largest best organized beauty supply store I’ve ever seen and I always find what I’m looking for. I live in a small town a few hours away from this store but whenever I’m in the area I make it a point to pay them a visit. I hope to visit soon because I’m looking for a certain type/brand of crochet hair and I’m hopeful they’ll have it……

I have not had any issues with the store. My only issue is that this store popped up when I googled black owned beauty supply stores. They are not black owned. We need to support our own, and not those of people who don't even like us.

Noticing rudeness from Asian employees. I have been patronizing this establishment since the 1980s when they were a small store in the same shopping area. The first incident I saw was directed at a customer for not moving fast enough to get in line to check out. Then today I was looking at a pack of hair and the employee or one of the owners literally walked between me and the wall of hair without acknowledging me or saying excuse me. I was very close to the wall of hair so much so that he could have walked behind me. I said " excuse me" and he looked me as if I had done something wrong. They do cater to the AA clientele. But I also think they feel that they can be rude and treat AA any kind of way. These are just incidents I have noticed the few minutes I was there. I can only imagine what goes on all day. I will not shop in a place where the clientele is not respected.
