This is a great hair salon. The owner is extremely knowledgeable, talented and dedicated. She prioritizes customer service above all and provides top-notch service with care. She chooses and trains her staff thoughtfully and consistently. Both my daughter and I love going there. Highly recommend if you have difficulty finding a great hairstylist and need knowledgeable people to take care of you!

I am from Florida and I was scared to go anywhere, I have had the same stylist for 20 years. Patty did my highlights and styled my hair and I am thrilled to say I loved her. She is a true professional, knows what she is doing and is loving and caring on top of it.

I got a spray tan with Heidi at the Durham blue bamboo location, and had such a great experience! Heidi made me feel comfortable and relaxed, and gave me great instructions prior to the tan about how to best care for the tan and make it last. I have a nut allergy so she made sure to find a solution that was safe for me and made me feel at ease about that. Highly recommend!

I go to Kelly at Blue Bamboo for shampooing, and an occasional blow dry. She shampoos my hair better than anyone I’ve ever been to. She’s caring, thorough, and funny! It brightens my day to see her. The haircuts I’ve seen her do are very attractive, precise. The other lady who works with her at the Durham location is so nice, welcoming, and caring. Kelly Swinson Johnson is an amazing stylist and all around great human being, one our family especially appreciates for the incomparable experience she gives our younger son each time we visit Blue Bamboo. M, who has some sensory processing challenges that we're still figuring out as a family, has always loathed having his hair cut or washed and ears touched. Before our first time at this salon, he had grown more and more bothered by high pitched sounds, so the buzzing sound of a hairdresser's clippers could really send him into an emotional spiral.On a hot tip from numerous parents in the South Durham area, I made an appointment for M with Kelly to see if she could help us get his hair neat and trimmed without a meltdown that leaves everyone feeling helpless. Kelly was absolutely phenomenal with our son. She talked to him in a gentle, encouraging voice. She asked for his consent to proceed with her various tools. She gave him an out, asking him to simply say "stop" when he felt overwhelmed or uncomfortable and needed a break. He said it a handful of times, and she honored his wishes each and every time. He shed not a single tear the entire time we were in Blue Bamboo, and I am floored in the very *best* of ways. As we left the parking lot after our first time at the salon, M told me he really likes Ms. Kelly and wants to go back to her next time he needs a haircut. That is huge for him.If you're looking for an incredibly thoughtful, patient, talented stylist for your child (or yourself), Kelly is the one. ❤️ We have since been back and will remain loyal customers! If you're extra lucky, you might even get to spend time in the salon with Suki Tsunami, Kelly's adorable one-year-old Shar Pei pup.Service: Kids' cuts

I had a hair cut today with Cece. She washed, cut, dried and styled my hair just the way I asked! I am very happy with my haircut, and the way she treated me. The salon is very clean and organized! I will definitely go back in another opportunity!

I had a great first experience here, but I have to say that Kelly is such an amazing person and stylist. It's obvious that her clients needs are her top priority, and she is not afraid to tell you what she thinks is best, which I very much appreciate! I would go back just to hang with Kelly again. But I should also point out that I love my cut!

I've been going to this salon since we moved here from Texas, and have gotten great haircuts and service every visit. Multiple convenient locations are available from my home, and it's easy to schedule appointments online. The atmosphere is great in the salons. I appreciate the great service from Kelly, and highly recommend this salon.

I have been visiting Kelly at Blue Bamboo for almost a year now. She is amazing! Not only is Kelly kind and professional, but she truly takes the time to get to know you and your hair on an individual basis. She is meticulous and lets you give feedback during every step of the process. I only have my hair colored a couple of times a year, and Kelly ensures that we get the most bang for my buck and it looks fabulous for months with her techniques.
