Absolutely terrible. 0 out of 5. My experience mirrors another customer's review below - this Budget Truck Durham office did not have a truck available for me on the day of my confirmed online reservation. After I showed up to the branch, I was informed of there not being a truck available, and there was no prior phone call notification made to me about this. So I left the branch and the reservation was canceled. Two days later, they charged my credit card a "no show" fee of $75, and then lied to the credit card company when I disputed the charge. They told the credit card company that there was a truck available to me, and I just didn't take it, which is not true. Do not trust this company or give them your credit card information for any reason, even just to book a reservation.

If I could give 0 starts I would . The manger at this place doesn’t care about the customers at all ! The truck I reserved was unavailable and I understand in the terms it mentions there is no guarantee on the inventory . Which is something that’s 100% stupid because if that’s the case there’s really no point in reserving the truck . Anyways I believe in this case someone should have called me to let me know the truck was not available for the time I reserved it so that I would be able to make plans in getting a different truck . The ladies that work there are nice but the manger acts as though he can’t help with resolving issues.

If I could this place zero stars I totally would. I booked a truck a 16’ truck for a one way trip down to Florida. When we first got there the office was a huge mess. They had the truck and at the shop everything checked out, granted we picked the truck up during the day & this will be important later on in the review. We had to walk all the way down and back behind the shopping center across the parking lot to pick up our truck. You would think they would have someone pull it up for us as a courtesy.We loaded the truck and we’re planning on leaving the very next day. When we went to leave and the passenger rear tire was dangerously low on air, which clearly the tire had a slow leak in it. We called this location to have them add air to the tire and told us they are unable to do that. Excuse me? What? We found a PepBoys that added air the the tire and every time we stopped for gas we were adding more air to the tire and drove cautiously slow so the trip took much longer than expected so we drove into the night.My husband was following behind us and told us that the tail lights were not on at night. We had the headlights and tail lights turned “On” in the cab. At that point we made the decision to get a hotel because driving at night with no taillights is super dangerous.We asked for a refund due to these MAJOR issues and we only got back $66. I’m won’t ever rent a budget truck again after this situation. Their trucks are unsafe for long moves.

Rented a 26' truck from here, drove 30 minutes and they didn't have it and had no record of my reservation. Supposedly someone called and was "unable to reach me" and never left a voicemail or sent an email. The people at the counter were unhelpful and one guy said I should have reserved it 2 weeks in advance (instead of 10 days) and gave me a number to call and told to ask for an "inventory manager". I called the number and was told someone would reach out in 15 minutes to 2 hours and of course this didn't happen. Save yourself the hassle, pay the extra and go with uhaul which has way more locations.

Reserved 12’ truck. Truck is clean, I drove 500 miles without any concern. Truck backside shutter has lock holder. Easy to drive on any roads. 12’ truck has four wheels. Also reserved hand truck which made moving fast.

I reserved a 26ft truck from this location a month prior to my planned move. 2 days prior to my move down to Florida, I arrived at the location at which I had reserved the truck, on time, and they told me the truck wasn't available. My father in law took the day off of work to help with the moving. They said they had an available truck an hour and a half away that we could use. We simply did not have time to take out of our day to spend half the day driving to get a new truck that was far away, not to mention, it would have been more expansive to drive that far with a diesel truck. They then offered 2 16ft trucks but, of course, we don't have the man power to drive two trucks and our two cars down to Florida. My dad is already flying down to help drive the truck so we can drive our cars. We ended up going with uhaul. We called uhaul and they had a truck available right then and there, and they were very nice. The budget team didn't even know if the truck that we were supposed to take was fixed after over heating. No one knew anything. I definitely won't be using budget ever again.

I had reserved and picked up a car for a one-way trip and when my plans changed, I had already had the car for a full day. The people at this location were really kind about it and updated my reservation to a local one, so I saved about $160. I didn't even ask - they just offered and took care of it. Really appreciated it!

This was my first time renting a truck from budget (usually rent Uhaul or Penske for out of state moving). The dealer was very nice when checking out the truck. They did not have the 12 foot truck we reserved (and this is stated that truck size is not guaranteed when making a reservation) but it gave us a 16 foot truck. I was assured that truck was in good condition. Nope. After loading up and getting on the highway, the truck started shaking after going over 60 mph. Not good. Also, the signage on inside of cab indicates "quiet cab". This was far from the truth. All me and my passenger could hear was a screeching sound...like metal rubbing together. We had to endure shaking of the truck and screeching sound for our 8 hour trip (Durham, NC to Jacksonville, FL). I called customer service to file a complaint and ask for 50% of my money back (seemed reasonable to me since we got to our destination...and brought truck back one day early). Out of my $592 payment, the best they could offer was $60...really. If budget trucks considers truck like the one I drove in good condition, I will gladly take my business and money to Uhaul or Penske. I can vouch for those companies having good conditioned trucks for local or out of state moving. The 2 stars is only because of the customer service at this location. The experience is 0 stars.

The prepaid car was not available when I arrived to pick it up. I have used this site around 10 times over the past year for business. I prepay to ensure there is a car available when I go to pick it up. They informed that my car was rented to someone else because I was an hour late from the pickup time used on the web site. How can they rent that car to someone else. That is renting one car and getting paid twice. Although 3 employees were sitting at their desk shooting the breeze, a fourth person was handling the desk, picking up the cars and going through checkout with customers, so needless to say it took a while to get to the desk to find out my car was rented to a walk-in and to be informed it was my fault for not being there before the walk-in came, even though I had already paid for the car. My fault entirely for continuing to use this site after I had been downgraded once before because my pre-paid car was not available, and once having a car with badly used tires, however I have now learned my lesson about renting from this site and picked up a replacement car at Hertz which was available and was a mid-size SUV instead of an economy car for virtually the same price.

Me and my boyfriend were on vacation in November when he reserved a truck and car dolly for his move in December. He received numerous emails stating that everything was good and confirmed. We got there at 930 am because the movers were coming at noon and we were planning on leaving out of town by 3pm. The first thing that the Representative said was “I have been trying to get in touch with our inventory manager she’s not answering calls I can give you her number if you like to call. We don’t have a car dolly. Once he got someone on the line they asked us how far are we willing to drive to get it. Since we didn’t want to drive he just gave them and answer because they couldn’t even get past the mileage question he gave them a radius and said they can call back between 15 min to 2 hours. I told him to start calling other companies to see what they have available since this company lied and didn’t even think to communicate with the customer. The representative knew who was coming in for the day and could have called us as well to inform us that the inventory wasn’t all there. The inventory manager Susan could have emailed my boyfriend as well. For a hundred dollars more we went with Uhaul.

Make sure you call before you go there. The check in reps will not let you know that your reservation for a truck and car dolly will be there. There is a miscommunication with the inventory manager and the local stores...

This location will charge you up to 150 extra if the car isn't returned in absolutely pristine condition. It won't be rented to you in pristine condition though! Renter beware. We have always rented from enterprise on hillsborough and never had this problem. Won't be returning to this spot ever again.

Don’t rent from Budget they took Money for Depoit on a 26 Foot Truck went to the E Independence location at 8:00 a.m nobody was there the location was closed sat there for 1 hour somebody finally opened up the store then of course they didn’t have my 26 Foot truck and I got stuck paying my Mover 4 guys for nothing..Customer service sucks go to U-Haul
