Asked to alert the manager that I felt unsafe shopping at this Food Lion due to the multiple people--including employees of the store--who were were wearing masks improperly or not at all. Was first told there was no manager, then they found one and she was only wearing a face shield without a mask. I was told that Food Lion employees could not enforce mask wearing and there was nothing they could do. Be safe and shop elsewhere.

I base this review on many years of experience shopping at Food lion. The only reason i still go there is because some items are priced lower than a Harris Teeter store nearby, but you pay for it through the unpleasantness and consistent rudeness of their cashiers. I gave feedback about it, not at the store, mind you since the manager is part of the problem, but online and Food lion just ignored my feedbacks. They don't care. Same lousy manager, same rude cashiers, for years. I don't know, but when i give my hard earned money to buy grocery, I only ask for the minimum courtesy, like a "Hello" and "Good bye". What you get at Food Lion, consistently, is a zombie look, no greeting whatsoever and you get treated more or less spitefully. The opposite of customer appreciation. Again this is a regularly met behavior over several years from about 60% of their cashiers. With such a large proportion of their employees treating customers like dirt, it tells something about their employees training. Maybe this is Food Lion's standard, If an item is priced wrong and you bring it up, you receive an irritated look followed by a long blank stare, don't expect any of them to be sorry for it, they- never - apologize for it. It's amazing how sometimes in the same drive out i shop at Harris teeter and am treated with normal friendly greetings, then go pick a few things at Food Lion and they treat you like dirt. It takes trash to treat people like this consistently. Now i avoid the store more and more. Nobody should be treated like this.

If you like groups of employees standing outside the entrance smoking while you walk in, this is the place for you. If you like having to argue at the checkout line that the price is wrong. Then have to wait for 10 minutes while they try to explain why it wrong. This has happened 5 times in as many days. Our company is done going there. They have no care they are smoking as you walk by with your kids. On a positive note, the people inside not smoke are really nice and helpful.

The store is ok and floor personnel helpful, but my checkout clerk just had a full personal conversation on her necklace phone mic about how messy her pal leaves the apt. NOT acceptable while you're supposed to be charging me the correct money.

With the demise of Kroger, especially the one on Hillsborough and 15/501, I looked in here to see if it was any bigger or different from the one farther down the road near Duke East Campus, or the one I sometimes use near the airport on TW Alexander, or some others near the beach. It is uncannily the same! Food Lions are more the same than any grocery store! I guess that is dull, but maybe useful. I found everything I was looking for, but nothing new or exciting. Oh well, that is our lot now in Durham.
