I strongly advise against using DeHaven’s Moving & Storage Inc. for international moves. My experience with them was frustrating, misleading, and far more expensive than quoted.
* **Overcharges:** I was billed more than the original estimate, even though fewer items were shipped and less labor was required.
* **Misleading Quotes:** I was quoted one price for air shipment but later billed at a much higher rate.
* **Subcontractor Confusion:** A subcontractor was introduced partway through the process without my prior knowledge. I was forced to pay this third party directly to receive my belongings.
* **Lack of Accountability:** When I questioned the discrepancies, DeHaven’s claimed they had no control over the charges, despite being the company I hired.
In the end, I paid thousands more than initially quoted, with no clear explanation or accountability.
Moving internationally is stressful enough — DeHaven’s made it worse with false assurances, hidden subcontractors, and unjustified costs. I recommend looking elsewhere.

I don't often leave reviews but DeHaven's did a great job with my cross-country move. I got quotes from all of the major companies around Durham. DeHaven's had the best communication and their pricing was more than fair, in fact thousands less than the next closest quote. There were no surprises on the moving day or with the pricing. Communication with the staff (particularly Tracy) was prompt and very responsive. My stuff arrived undamaged which is more than I can say with most moving companies I've used before. I would use them again.

It is rare that I'd choose to leave a negative review, but my experience with DeHaven's over the past few years was truly awful-- if you have moving or storage needs and want to get your items catalogued and delivered to you in a timely and organized manner, this is *not* the company for you. I think their sweet spot is with large company contracts (Duke football, for example) and absolutely not for private individuals. They delivered items to my home that were not from my storage. They claimed that they could not find items of mine in their warehouse when I wanted to retrieve them. And even though I am a year our from thinking I ever had to deal with them again, I got an email this week from them claiming I didn't pay an invoice in June 2024 (I sent them screenshots of my payments to confirm that I did, in fact, pay it upon receipt, but did not receive a reply to my email.) Their customer service is appallingly unkind. I would never, ever recommend DeHaven's to anyone looking for moving or storage help. Ever.

We were so pleased with the guys that loaded our belongings to head to Florida, and never dreamed the guys who arrived at our new address to unload our things would be just as great!! Everything arrived safely and we would highly recommend DeHaven’s.

I really wanted to leave a positive review because, for the most part, this company did a good job. The crew was on time, they handled our furniture with care, and the logistics of our overnight move went off without any major issues. However, what should have been a seamless experience was overshadowed by a very serious problem: some extremely valuable personal items went missing during the move.
Despite securing and clearly labeling all our boxes, we discovered that a few specific valuables—items of both high financial and extremely sentimental value—were no longer with our belongings when we unpacked. We've double-checked everything, and there's no doubt that they disappeared during the move. In fact, we saw the items in question go on the truck while moving out and this was a larger box and large crate.
We reached out to the company as soon as we realized while sorting through our new attic space and although they were going to follow up, we have received no further response. Granted, we did not review the inventory but we trusted the crew and everyone was exhausted. Additionally, it could have taken at least a few hours to go through everything.
It's frustrating because everything else about the service was solid. But unfortunately, trust is the foundation of any moving experience, and ours was broken. I can't in good conscience recommend a company that cannot guarantee the safety of your most personal and irreplaceable items.

The team was well organized, prompt, and transported our home without any issues. They helped us with an out of state move that included the transport of a baby grand piano and packing on our behalf. They made moving with 2 small children manageable. Would highly recommend.

The packers were thorough and careful with all our belongings and the moving crew was amazing- so efficient, friendly, and went above and beyond! Thank you!

Had a great moving experience from beginning to end! From Carly to Tracey to the crew of movers! Had a ton of glass and mirrors, only one mishap. They were thorough wrapping the furniture and glass, they moved the items professionally and carefully. Not a wall was damaged! The crew worked very well together. Thank you DeHavens!!

BEWARE USING THIS COMPANY AND BUYING INSURANCE THEY SUGGEST.
I used this moving company to relocate from NC to FL. Tracey was great, she kept me informed each step of the way regarding pickup of my household goods until delivery. No complaints with office staff.
The movers were polite however, they showed up totally unprepared with one small box for parts. I was charged for tv boxes and boxes for glass coffee tables and other fragile items. Yet, my property was not properly protected as blankets are not sufficient to protect fragile items.
I have moved several times long distance and never have a moving company showed up with one box. As a result, my fragile lamps were damaged and other items as well.
The movers removed the legs from my dining room table and placed hardware in a bag. Upon delivery, only some is the hardware taken off the table at pickup was put back on the table at delivery. I found the bag of hardware labeled “dining table” amongst my boxes in my kitchen as I unpacked. Why would there be extra parts left for a table that you took the hardware off! So my table was not reassembled properly and I have to pay someone to come and fix it.
On top of it all, additional insurance pushed to over damage at sales. I submitted an insurance claim, adjuster came out within two weeks and it’s been three months and never heard from anyone!
Update 11/112024: Finally spoke with Sirva Worldwide which is the insurance company handling claims and they had the nerve to tell me they don’t cover items packed by the homeowner because they don’t know if the items were broken before they were packed and moved. Why would I pack broken glass picture frames and risk injuring myself and others just to file a claim for $20 items?
Plus why sell me insurance if none of the items packed by homeowner is covered?!! The movers didn’t pack anything, they showed up with one box for misc parts!!
Damaged noted to my King Headboard at delivery which resulted in unit being trashed completely, but of course insurance declined responsibility for that as well.
