What a nasty nasty experience I had the DSW in Durham! Claims to be the manager, made homophobic statements to customers, rushed us to make a purchase. As soon as I walked in he stated “just so you know we close in 10 minutes”. I am reporting him to corporate.

Absolutely worst customer service. It was still half hour to closing and the guy rushed us to selecting the shoes which is alright, so we put back the shoes we tried, and upon leaving we were asked to clean the floor and the guys words were "we are not your maids" and we are not the customer. At the end we put back the shoes we selected and just left.

I frequent DSW often, I LOVE DSW. I've never had an issue before my visit on Saturday 3/30/24. My experience really bothered me, so here I am writing this review. It was a errand-running Saturday. One stop I needed to make was to get a dress at Nordstrom Rack for Easter. While there, I wasn't impressed with their shoe options -so I used the DSW app to browse what shoes were in stock at the Durham location. I wasn't planning on stopping at DSW but I found a dress that I didn't have shoes for. Through the app, I saw a few options that were in stock I was interested in. I drove to DSW, arrived around 3pm that Saturday afternoon. There was one aisle of shoes blocked off so that customers couldn't enter that aisle. Of course, it was the aisle of beautiful closed-toe dress shoes and pumps that had the shoes I came for (I can't wear open toes at work so I wanted that aisle specifically. Since I love DSW, I thought I would shop around the rest of the store, take my time, and then maybe the aisle will be open. After perusing the entire store, I went back to the aisle that was closed off. All these beautiful shoes out of reach. One customer next to me asked the lady working in the closed off section if we could quickly try on shoes from that section. With attitude, the employee said "You have five minutes." Which I thought was rude, but okay I can try on the shoes I came for. While trying them on - I received a lecture from the employee "I have things to do, I can't be letting people in and out of here all day, you are interrupting my work , I only have a certain amount of time to get these new shoes out."
It REALLY bothered me. I left it alone and checked out.
I've worked in retail before. Why on earth would she shut down an entire shoe aisle to put out new product on a Saturday afternoon during a BOGO sale? In my days at retail, we did that before the store opened, or the earliest/slowest hours it was open. Maybe a Tuesday morning, not a Saturday afternoon.
And I did not appreciate a lecture about how I am bothering her by asking to try on shoes and we are interrupting her job.
Management at this store, is this your business practice to shut down aisles during a BOGO sale? And any customer service training for your employees? Or is receiving attitudes and guilt trips part of the shopping experience now?
Further - I get home --- and there was only ONE SHOE in the box. Also never had this happen before. What a frustrating shopping experience.
I do not have to shop in store, I can buy on line but I like supporting the community by shopping in store. I also do not have to shop at DSW. I can think of other stores that are nicer to their customers.

Bad customer service. They closed an area in the store and they stated it was announced verbally. No signs. No announcements anywhere.

Greetings, I am unsure if former employee Devonna Simone Watford works with you all. But nonetheless I’m requesting help. Devonna Simone Watford along with others, has been apart of my mental health deterioration for years. I have attempted suicide and although she knows this, she has continued to harass me by telling people in different states, Brittany Keona Bond, and Thea Roumelle James I am everything but a child of God. Please help protect me from her. I am finally in a place where I’ve healed. Please don’t take the as revenge. She has dealt with alot and has acted out in anger. Please just pray for her and her family and their healing. God Bless you
