I took my car in last summer for diagnostics for my check engine light. I was told the downstream O2 sensor needed replacement so I agreed to that. Check engine light came back on a couple weeks later. I came back in and was told that they couldn’t get the O2 sensor to fit correctly (but they kept that from me at the first visit) and there’s no way to fix that besides replacing the whole catalytic converter. I asked if replacing the sensor was a waste then and they said that it was still good that they replaced it, even if it doesn’t fit. Long story short, I eventually went to a different mechanic who told me that it looks like Firestone damaged the sensor while placing it and it both doesn’t fit and now doesn’t work because of the poor fit. So I had to get it replaced again, but this mechanic was able to actually get it to fit correctly instead of forcing it on. The Firestone employees were all very nice and the scheduling system is convenient, but unfortunately based on this situation and the money I lost on it I do not recommend getting anything complex done at Firestone. I have had fine experiences with them for basic things like oil changes.

S/o to the team at this location, specifically Miles and Dom. My husband and I have been going to this location for years. Both Miles and Dom took the time to listen to my concerns and provide reasonable solutions. Dom only did the work that was necessary and Miles provided evidence of the repairs required. They will look out for you!

Don’t bother scheduling an appointment on their website, because they’ll just change your time anyways.Requested an 8am appointment days in advance. Email says they’ll contact you directly if the time is unavailable to reschedule. 2nd email confirmed 11am with zero contact made by them, which did not work with my work schedule. Called to talk to them about it and see what other options there were. I was treated like a moron for thinking that giving them the diagnostic code was going to have any effect on how quickly they could fix my car. I’ve used several other locations in other states, this one by far had the worst customer service.Went to Precision Auto instead, had me in and out in 2 hours, at the time I originally scheduled no less.

Excellent customer service and car-repair expertise by Miles Cotillier and his incredible staff. I have used this Firestone location since 2007, and am impressed at the invariably excellent quality of the work done here. Miles has continued that tradition of excellence as manager. A blessed 2024 to you all at Firestone on University Drive, Durham, North Carolina.

I brought my car in to have the tires rotated, balanced and a wheel alignment. I was told I would need tires and they refused to rotate my tires. I had them show me why my tires needed replacing and they measured at the wear indicator. The manager at the store told me that's how firestone measures tire tread. The wear indicator was not even up to the tread of the tires. These are 80k mile tires and I only have 37k miles on them. My tires have plenty of thread left on them, but they still refused to rotate my tires. For years I have been buying my tires from firestone, maybe it's time to go elsewhere.

The checkout process was very questionable. I was never shown my invoice when paying, and the total never showed on the point of service device. When I noticed that the cost was high, I asked if there were any add on’s. Turns out that lifetime alignment AND road hazard were added without my knowledge and I asked that they be removed. A customer should be asked for add on’s and they should be explained to them.I believe that older patrons are being taken advantage of at this particular location, especially if the invoice is not shown to them or explained to them.

WOMEN BEWARE! I'm incredibly angry, WOMEN DON'T GO HERE! If I could give 0 stars I would.I had my car towed here after it wouldn't start. 2 days prior I had brought it to a local auto parts store and they tested my battery and said it was fine. I figured it was the alternator because roadside jumped it before towing and when detaching the cables, it would dim and die.So I brought it here to Firestone because they were open on a Saturday, and they told me they'd do an ignition check which was perfect. The man I spoke with on Saturday was wonderful. On Monday when I heard from them again, they left a voicemail telling me I needed an alternator and new battery. I called them back, I explained to them the battery had just tested fine 2 days ago and I could install a battery in my 1997 Avalon on my own (did this before on another car just fine) but recognized the alternator needing replacing. The man I spoke with argued with me said he could not just replace the alternator, they had to do the battery, too and that I would not have the "right equipment" to do a battery replacement on my own. He refused to listen to me and claimed they needed to plug some system to prevent "data loss". My car is a 1997, it isn't a fancy 2023 electric car that needs some sort of special attention when replacing a battery. So he gave me no choice in the matter. So I received my receipt via email today after getting my car and checked it when I got home and saw at the very top (see image), that the battery courtesy check which was the initial test explained to me, for $40.99 states on my receipt "Your battery is measuring within the manufacturer's specification for required CCA. Your battery has sufficient power and should reliably start the vehicle." So apparently I was charged over $200 for a needless repair to replace a battery that tested fine!Furthermore, I DID NOT AUTHORIZE THE ADDITIONAL $92 FOR BRAKE FLUID EXCHANGE. Yet, that is at the bottom of my bill. They also listed oil change on there which thankfully the tech said not needed. I HAD JUST DONE THIS A MONTH AGO. But why is it even on there if they never mentioned or asked me?This is it for me, not only am I convinced not to ever return to any Firestone ever again, I'm going to learn what I can from my son who is taking automotive classes and invest in our own tools and use Youtube to learn how to repair my own car. I'll likely save money and my sanity. I'm going to see if there is any place I can report this to, this can't have been legal.

Super friendly, reasonably priced, quality service, and easy to navigate booking system to make an appointment. They found things that the Toyota dealer had said they did, but didn't - e.g., one of two air filters was clearly replaced, but the second was clearly not. Super communicative and reasonably priced. Would highly recommend!
