I have been going to Jackie for 7 years. The first time after another hair dresser fried my hair. I haven’t left since. She brought it back from the dead.
Previously, I was getting it relaxed, but now I just get it colored and blown out. She recommended I go back to natural hair. It’s been a a game changer. No regrets.
She doesn’t rush you. No double booking. She takes her time. All of her products are great and don’t have harsh chemicals.
She now cuts my son’s hair and gave him his first haircut five years ago. She’s the only one I could trust during Covid and we were the only customers and masked. She’s always thought of the safety and health of her clients. Nothing has changed post-Covid.
Highly recommend her. She can do anyone’s hair.

My place to go for haircuts!UPDATE: sadly this salon has closed due to the exorbitant rent Brightleaf charges. It was a black-owned business, run by a wonderful woman and should've been preserved since Durham prides itself on being progressive. Unfortunately, this is another shameful example of rampant gentrification that is becoming this city's modus operandi.

I've been a client of Jackie's for 5+ years now. I always come to her salon to get my hair colored, even after moving to NYC. The products she uses and her techniques have kept my hair (which is natural without a perm) in perfect condition. I've gotten all-over color, highlights and balayage in the years I've been a client. This last go- round (12/31/2020) we did hot pink and it came out better than my expectations (especially for it being done in just one appt- usually it takes two for that amount of color)! I'm so in love and happy with how it turned out. I've gotten so many compliments and people are so in awe because she was able to achieve the color WITHOUT bleaching!

Don’t get me wrong, the stylist did her job, but the service was overpriced. My hair was already washed and came in my own styling products. I almost fell off my chair when I got the bill. Definitely not worth the price.And no one there knows about new hair products and styles; thus as much as you think they are knowledgeable about hair, they are not. Trust, I’ve lived in South Beach

I got my first haircut after salons were allowed to open in Durham. Jackie did an amazing job...really LOVE my haircut!
