I've been a member of O2 Fitness for a while now, and I can confidently say that my experience has been exceptional, thanks in large part to my incredible personal trainer, Max.From the beginning, Max stood out for his attentiveness and commitment to tailoring my fitness journey to meet my individual needs. One of the things that impressed me the most was Max's ability to truly listen to my feedback. He took the time to understand my fitness goals, both short-term and long-term, and crafted a personalized plan that has been nothing short of transformative.Under Max's guidance, I've not only gained measurable strength but have also experienced a noticeable improvement in my overall mobility. His attention to detail in creating workouts that are challenging yet achievable has made each session enjoyable and motivating. Max has a knack for pushing me just enough to see progress without feeling overwhelmed. What sets Max apart is his versatility as a trainer. Not only has he been instrumental in my own fitness journey, but he's also crafted a specialized plan for my husband. My husband's focus has been on training for longer distance running, and Max has developed a program that is not only effective but also tailored to his specific needs and aspirations.Max's dedication to his clients' success goes beyond the gym floor. He educates, motivates, and ensures that every session is a step forward. It's clear that he is not just a trainer but a partner in our fitness journeys.Overall, my experience at O2 Fitness, with Max as my trainer, has been outstanding. I highly recommend both the gym and Max to anyone looking for a personalized and results-driven fitness experience.

I've been working with Max for a couple of months now. I would highly recommend him to all of my friends and family. He is professional, educated, and encouraging. I look forward to our sessions every week! In a small amount of time, I have noticed an increase in my strength and energy levels. He will not disappoint! :)

I walked in this morning for a workout and observed Grace as the only employee behind the front desk area. She was helping people check in, supporting maintenance inquiries, and taking phone calls about memberships.Dedicated employees like Grace are what make O2 Fitness a step above the other gyms.

The gym bros claimed this O2 club, University Hill has fallen.I've reviewed this club a few times and every time this club drops in quality. At this point it's really just the location factor keeping it from being a 1 star review. It's five minutes from my house, walking distance from my office. The location convenience factor is hard to ignore but dang if it isn't falling fast on every other category right now. This place is billed as a Signature Club, which let's be honest it's truly lacking in signature amenities at the moment. The locker rooms continue to be pretty abysmal. The lockers have mostly broken locks that you can't use your own lock with, and if they are not broken they are filled with the same stuff day after day and not cleaned out at the end of the night by the staff. The carpet in there is always damp and feels like it's just giving out athlete's foot like its candy on halloween. I'm assuming someone is dealing out of the men's locker room because it always smells like weed. There's the same crew of gym bros that is always hanging out either in the men's room goofing off and recording themselves or on the gym equipment. The jacked, little floppy haired blonde kid IS ALWAYS THERE. Doesn't matter what time of day you go he's there with his little buddies just goofing off. The showers don't appear to be cleaned on a regular basis and there's typically no paper towels in the men's room. The culture of people also taking photos of themselves/recording themselves in the changing area is out of control. It's one thing if there's a designated area for this where folks won't get caught in the background of other people's videos or photos but unless it's in the terms of service now I'm guessing this is a violation of consent laws. The gym itself isn't bad when it's not peak hours and you can actually get a machine or a parking space but during those peak hours it's impossible to find parking, the gym equipment is either taken or broken or the gym bros just hang out everywhere doing their supersets. The gym bro culture here is toxic and a true problem. They recently redid the second floor to give the physical therapists more room but it's taken away from workout space so it's made the second floor more cramped and harder to find a place to workout. In general you can't find the attachments for machines or the machines are broken and not repaired for weeks on end.For a "Signature" O2 club it's really overpriced and lacking that signature touch that I'm guessing O2 wants to be known for. This club isn't that old but it's really toeing the line of being in dire state for a multitude of issues. I can't speak for their predatory billing practices but I can say that anytime I've had a billing issue it's neve been an easy process to deal with like back when the club was shut down due to covid. I hope this place can get things turned around and stop relying on the O2 name to keep them afloat because there's times where it's just pleasant to try and workout here.

The staff is wonderful! Sky, Mitchell, and Roderick are wonderful, very helpful as well as patient and definitely knowledgeable! I am a new member and joining O2 fitness was one of the best decisions I have made this year and I’m an amazing business owner! If you are on the divider line definitely cross on over to joining and thank me later!???

I joined O2 in Durham this fall and I absolutely love it. The facility is huge, it's aesthetically pleasing and has everything I was looking for and more. I started personal training with Erin and it's been a huge game changer for me. The initial consult with Ethan was super thorough and he made me feel comfortable with where I was at with my fitness goals and certain limitations, and made the process super streamlined. Erin makes workouts a blast and has helped me realize my strength and pushes me in the best way possible. I've learned a lot from working with her and it's one of the best parts of my week!

I’ve been at this gym for awhile and recently started working personally with Erin and it has changed my experience drastically! She is so easy to work with and super personable. She makes the gym approachable while also pushing you to do your very best! The gym itself is also nice with having a variety of things you can have access to! Highly recommend!

I am very pleased with the facilities (most importantly cleanliness) and the friendly personnel at O2 Fitness in Durham. For someone who is entering his eighth decade of life starting a new program with a personal trainer can be intimidating. Fortunately, I was paired with Ethan Ylizarde. My experience with him since starting in late June has been phenomenal. Ethan is blessed with a great personality and motivational skills which makes training an very enjoyable experience. His knowledge of training methods to attain the desired result is impressive. I look forward every week to my next session with Ethan. Hopefully, he will be at O2 for as long as I am able to do personal training.

Utilized the intro month and hired a person trainer to get me back on track. Max was phenomenal at creating a plan and helping me realize that I was still strong even after having taken several months off from the gym. He is creative with his workouts and integrates a lot of variety. I highly recommend Max as a personal trainer.

I had a great training experience with MAX! He put together a full training plan based on my goals and logged all my progress. He definitely pushes you to work hard, while staying positive and encouraging. He was all around fun to work with. I feel so much more comfortable and confident in the gym. If you're looking for an awesome trainer, ask for Max:)

Been there for 2 months. Love the workout areas but the 2 stars is due to their lack of care/response for cleaning locker rooms and showers. I’ve spoken to numerous employees and district manager but literally nothing has changed. It’s incredibly poor of a company to not communicate with their customers when they have been approached numerous times. The attached photos are a small example of spots that haven’t been cleaned once in 2 months. It’s unacceptable. Literally showers are stained day in and out and have no evidence of being cleaned. Carpet floors always have debris.Do better O2 especially at a “Signature” location.

While the staff is friendly and helpful, the list of negatives is long. Machines missing batteries. Bathrooms are in constant disarray. Locker combination locks not holding the combination that’s set. Rowers need some major TC&L, if not replaces all together. Management and staff can only do so much. More needs to be allocated to this location.

I’ve been working with the trainers at O2 Fitness for about a year. I’m on my third trainer now (my first two, Tylor and Shawn, were great. They left for better opportunities elsewhere). Overall, my goal is mostly to be held accountable for my physical fitness and healthy eating.I’ve been working with Ethan Y for a few months now and he’s fantastic. He’s very passionate about helping his clients reach their goals, and I appreciate his friendly, laid-back, and motivating attitude during our workouts. He has also been extremely helpful with suggestions about modifying my diet to include healthier options, and ways that I can fight cravings (I have a terrible sweet tooth). As for the gym, I don’t use the machines or weights on my own. I prefer the classes (I like to attend Zumba with Jose and the Hip hop class with Leangela). If they ever get rid of Jose I would probably cancel my membership tbh. I live for his Zumba classes.

Decent selection of equipment, but that's about as far as it goes. Locker rooms & bathrooms are consistently a disaster. Despite the equipment options, much of it is broken regularly. Many of the gym goers represent the worst stereotypes with weights rarely re-racked, or refusing to wipe down stations. Beware if you are hoping to get your workout in first thing in the morning as they only have one person to open at 5am and they regularly don't show up on time. For the price they charge, the experience ought to be that of a premium gym, but it's far from it.

Ethan is the best personal trainer EVER!!! I just moved to O2 from another gym where all of my friends go. I was hesitant about switching even though I knew there was nothing more for me at my old gym. But 1 day with Ethan & all of those worries were gone. He pushes me to always do my best (even though I complain?) & believes in me when I don’t. There aren’t enough words to explain how excited I am about working with Ethan & hitting my goals!?I haven’t worked with other trainers at O2 but they are all extremely kind & friendly. In addition, the fitness classes are amazing!! HIGHLY recommend!
