I went to buy some gifts today at this shop (was going to spend ~$150) and the owner, I guess, refused to let me do this because he said I needed to wear a mask. I refused and had some choice words for him. His argument was that he pays the rent! I guess $150 would not have helped that ?? He probably has his Mommie and Daddy pay the rent while he lives in their basement. I will never wear a mask again, especially with all the data that is out now proving they did nothing to stop the virus.People like this sheep are what is wrong with our country today.Good luck in life dude!!

Casey and his dog Toby are the nicest folks to deal with. Our birds literally go crazy for the seeds we buy there. There are great items for gifts and the best greeting card assortment.

Beautiful large variety of outdoor decor and the owner is very knowledgeable about birds, squirrels, etc. I have to restrain myself from purchasing one of everything when I'm there.

I love supporting local small businesses, and this one is fantastic! They have a great selection of different feeders, bird baths, and yard accessories, as well as many types of birdseed and suet. The staff person was extremely knowledgeable about all of the products and general birdwatching information that I wouldn't have even known to ask about. He was very helpful and friendly, and made sure we were getting the right products. There's also a friendly cat in the store! Just a really fun shopping experience.

Been getting bird seed here for years. Good selection of feeders and seed. The seed is high quality and I get a great variety of birds to my yard. Also purchased a squirrel proof feeder here and for the first time I don't have squirrels gulping all the seed down.

This is a lovely shop with a knowledgeable, friendly staff, which includes a very sweet kitty as the official greeter. If you are looking for a squirrel-proof feeder, bluebird boxes, special blends of bird seed, or yard accessories, wind chimes or cards and gifts for your favorite birder--they probably have what you're looking for. Go in for a browse and enjoy listening to the bird songs playing in the background. There's also a section for children so if you want a soft toy bird that sings its song, a book, puzzle or you have a budding birder--they can help. It's not a big shop, but it's full of wonderful things that will add to the enjoyment of attracting song birds to your yard. And if you have a question they can answer!

This store is so much more than just a place to buy food for birds... The resident cat is so sweet and an interesting addition. The gentleman who runs the store is simply the nicest, and most helpful guy. The BEST outdoor creature store is this one!

What a wonderful little shop. Every time I go in there, the same gentleman is there. He is knowledgeable, kind, thoughtful, and doesn't try to sell me everything in the store. In fact, he discouraged me from purchasing something that would have ended up being superfluous. I'm happy to continue to support a local business that takes care of its customers. There's always something new and interesting that catches my attention when I go in for seed, too!

The name is now Backyard Bird and this is a fantastic local shop with all your bird supply needs. Located at Hope Valley Commons between Harris Teeter and Mattie B's, we have been here a few times for bird supplies. We recently bought a pole to keep the squirrels away and Casey has all kinds of great tips and information. We also purchased a handy laminated bird guide that helps you identify birds of the region. The best part about Backyard Bird is the residential cat named Ruby. Casey saved Ruby and she sits atop the counter or parts of the store. Apart from the neat bird supplies, I love visiting just to see Ruby. Support local and check this place out the next time you need bird seed, feeders, or any other supplies for birds.
