Piedmont Wildlife Center is a non-profit environmental organization that encourages conservation and inspires people to build lifelong connections with nature. The center offers immersive outdoor education, citizen science, and wildlife stewardship programs. Recently reopened after being closed during the COVID-19 pandemic, Piedmont Wildlife Center hosts public events and activities. Visitors can explore the grounds, which include some grassy and muddy trails leading to the main cabin. Inside, they can see various birds and other animals, including raptors and a raven. The center provides guided tours that allow visitors to learn about the animals' backstories, habits, skills, personalities, and behaviors in the wild. Reviewers have particularly enjoyed meeting the screech owl Arlo and the horned owl Tony. While the center may be small, it offers a great variety of raptors and other wildlife. Visitors can also attend foraging classes and virtual "owl bomb" events, which are described as efficient, friendly, and unique experiences. Overall, Piedmont Wildlife Center is praised for its educational and engaging programs, as well as its efforts to promote conservation and connect people with nature.
Piedmont Wildlife Center is an amazing organization with a wildlife staff who prioritizes animal welfare and safety above all. If you want to learn about NC wildlife, including raptors and turtles and more, and connect with nature in a meaningful way, you should visit Piedmont!

My child enjoyed her Otter 1 week-long wilderness adventure camp. She loved the mountain trails, sleeping outdoors, fire-building, cooking and spending time with other kids. All the challenges made it more memorable.

We really enjoy the hiking loops. If it recently rained, wear appropriate footwear. The sounds of the peepers and birds, and occasional deer sightings help heal your soul.
