I got the opportunity to join FitLab after my previous box unexpectedly relocated to a different location. I’ve been at FitLab for 3.5 months and it’s a great place to train. The owners are present and truly care about what you are getting out of the process. The coaches are knowledgeable and run you through proper warm ups prior to strength and conditioning sessions. Highly recommend this place to anyone.

Love this community! Very knowledgeable and supportive instructors. I appreciate that at every class instructor help meet me where I am in my fitness journey. Not only is the staff amazing but the other member make it a community. Not only a place to work out but, a place to find friends! Lots of social activities outside the gym.

My life was in shambles. Barely able to put on socks or climb a set of stairs without having to stop to catch my breath. Heavily overweight and with my doctor telling me my levels were all over the place, I decided I needed a change.

Great community of Crossfiters. My wife has become stronger and more challenged because of these folks.

Very good layout, enough to support 2 classes at same time. Instructors take the time to show proper technical movement of each exercise especially if you're new to the program. Great people!!

Quite honestly, the first time I really enjoy going to the gym. For as long as I have been a gym-goer I always maintained memberships but never truly enjoyed going. This led to a lot of wasted money on a membership I didn't use. I learned about CrossFit years ago because one of my insanely fit friends started doing it. I was always too intimidated to try it because, well, I am not insanely fit. Ha! I stumbled across a Facebook ad one day for the 6 week challenge with SODU and I thought, what the heck! I need to do this for myself and get back in shape. I remember walking towards the gym for the consultation and seeing all these people lifting weights and part of me wanted to turn around and get right back in my car and drive to chic-fil-a. I felt incredibly out of place....and FAT. But I sucked it in and sucked it up an walked inside. I met with Erica. She was super friendly and made me feel very comfortable. Needless to say, I joined the challenge and eventually a full time member. I thoroughly enjoy the workout programs. I love the change up every day so I am always sore (makes me feel accomplished). Its also super motivating when being surrounded by so many hard working, dedicated, people. All levels of skill and fitness are there working together. SODU is judgement free zone and I love that. I have since become friends with many members. It is a very close knit community which I think is awesome because I moved here from CO and don't know many people outside of work. Having friends there also helps keep me accountable and motivated, and lord knows I need that. Above all else, nothing beats the feeling when I leave class like, "yes, I'm still alive and I feel great!" Sometimes you feel like you might die....but trust me, you wont. If you are questioning CrossFit, I encourage you to come in and try a class. Everyone will welcome you with open arms (including me) and soon enough you will be a proud meathead.

Spent 6 weeks with SODU CrossFit and had a great time. I was part of a limited-time challenge that included 3x a week crossfit, 3x a week other workout and a specific diet. I really enjoyed my time at this gym-every coach was really knowledgeable about the best way to teach the moves, as well as "scale" according to my needs. I was never once judged by a coach or another member for being a beginner to working out and over the course of the 6 weeks I was encouraged to go further in my workout. I really liked going to the early AM classes, because it was a smaller group size and a little quieter. The afternoons are definitely busy, but definitely enough room in the classes that the coach was able to give you individualized attention. If you're looking for a space that is inclusive and supportive, while still learning to be a crossfit warrior, this is for you :)

I just finished doing a 6-week challenge with the folks at South Durham CrossFit and had an amazing experience! My goal was the lose 6% body fat in 6 weeks and I ended up losing 7% body fat and 10 pounds in 5 weeks. I had many misconceptions about CrossFit that initially turned me off to signing up (i.e. its just for meatheads, you do complex movements with no instruction, there isn't any science/thought behind the workout plans), but my experience with the program, the people who were members, and the instructors couldn't be further from my initial thoughts. An extreme amount of thought and care went into designing the program. The meal plan, workouts, coaching and social support were expertly woven together to make for a seamless experience. It addressed every pitfall one might encounter when starting a new fitness program (sticking to a meal plan, meal prepping, losing motivation, stress) and made it as easy as possible to succeed. The members there were great. They were encouraging and friendly. Almost everyone I worked out with came up and introduced themselves to me, and were very helpful if I needed advice on a movement or was struggling with a workout. The coaches were experts. A special shout out to Amy Depolo and Jason Carley who I trained with most frequently during my challenge. Both were extremely knowledgeable, friendly, and motivating. Both great as coaches and people you would want to grab a beer with after class. Overall I give the program an A+ and would encourage anyone who is looking to transform there body and commit to the program to join South Durham Crossfit.

While I'm sure this is a wonderful CrossFit place with amazing staff, and an encouraging atmosphere, I am pretty disappointed in my recent experience. I saw a post on Instagram for a FREE 6-week challenge. I signed up and was under the impression that I was meeting with the woman one-on-one to get started. Only to show up and be packed like sardines into a tiny office with 20 people to have them explain that there are only 5 spots left for the challenge, and over 80 people are coming to try out for it. So that was disappointing. THEN after explaining the whole program and how it works, I was really excited for the opportunity to try Crossfit and see how it would help me reach my goals. The next thing she explained was "In order to make it "FREE" we do require an "accountability deposit." It was SIX HUNDRED DOLLARS. Over half of the individuals in the room got up and walked out after hearing this. I know that it takes time and effort on their part to be able to provide something like this, and that nothing is actually "free." But this was incredibly misleading, and I was very disappointed along with many others who left when I did. They also do not let vegan/vegetarians participate because "it's too hard to fit the meal plans to that diet" Which I understand somewhat, but this entire thing was super misleading and left me incredibly disappointed, along with many others. I would warn against being roped into this seemingly too-good-to-be-true promotion. You're better off just joining their program off the start.
