“I have pretty high expectations in general. For Edenton, this place is 5/5 considering other options. I loved waking up to find this place. I want healthier options for food and drink. A nice, quick waffle and a nice refreshing drink is what I need in the mornings. So let's get into it:
I got the strawberry and greens refresher. First, the lady there was pretty helpful and walking me through the options. Now, she first handed me the drink and at first, it was pretty sweet. But as I stirred it more and more while waiting for my waffle, it got better. The flavor of it is perfect. My only [minor] gripe with the refresher is that there is a gelatin after taste. I'll live.
Now the waffle, I got the Romeo and Juliet. The waffle was made fresh and I saw her mixing the ingredients (I appreciated it wasn't premixed liquid). The berry toppings were frozen berries that were defrosted (why didn't I think of this for at home lol). I personally would have liked them defrosted maybe 10more seconds as they were barely thawed and/or very very cold. But, nevertheless tasty. The waffle was very tasty overall. The strawberry syrup was good. I cleaned my plate lol.
Again, being well traveled and living the city life now, I have high expectations for 5 star. Here is what would have taken me from 4 to 5 star: - no after taste on the refresher - improved customer satisfaction (this is very nitpicky I'll admit): when ordering, I said I wanted fruity but not really sweet. When I first started the refresher, she asked how was it and I was slow to answer (giving hesitation with an "ehhh" sound). I said I liked the flavor but it was pretty sweet. Here is where it could have gone to 5star service, either 1) it would have been nice for her to be more familiar with the setting in of each drink, and lmk what I needed to stir/mix it in more or 2) offered to swap for a different option. Luckily, as I mentioned above, the drink got better as it settled in the ice/mixed in more but idk that and was a bit discouraged and disappointed INITIALLY. -more defrosted berries on waffles (now, as I'm writing this review and taking the last bites of waffle, the berries have been sitting and are perfect) but it would've been nice to start out this way. -i should have been offered traditional syrup. I though about asking for it, but honestly saw the strawberry syrup on there and was like I'll be aight (I was). Being asked if I wanted it would have been top notch service though, even if I declined. -okay as I sip on this more, it's so good but I cannot get over this gelatin after taste.
But honestly my 4 star is like a 6 star for Edenton. So ?♀️ I'll be back tomorrow if I'm not on the road already when they open for this waffle and hopefully can try another drink that may have less of an after taste.
