I visit Colors everytime I'm at the beach. The prices and options are better than other similar beach stores.

The Emily that we encounter was VERY helpful, kind & considerate so I'm not sure if the other reviews are about the same (Emilly.?). The store is a little bit tight between isles, but it beats the heck out of being disrespected & yelled at by the guy (manager.?) at Pacific on Loon Street! They were SO Rude there & a lot of our clothing was not centered & printed incorrectly, with the images & writing missing completely in areas. They didn't hold up in the wash either, but items purchased here did very well so it was an issue of incompetence of the "Professional" who refused to take any direction, without getting offended, at the Pacific Store..

Surf shops can be iffy but this one was very nice! The quality of the hoddies is great! much better than the other two surf shops in the area…I have been to them all and this has a smaller selection but overall it’s just nicer. I met a younger woman at the counter who was sooo welcoming and sweet (something I had not yet encountered at a surf shop) a really good experience overall. Go to this surf shop unless you are looking for large sales and stuff like that.

The store itself is pretty similar to the others on the island. Good amount of souvenirs. However there is a very strong herbal smell in this one. It's almost so strong it can give you a headache. However, what sets this one apart is the in house ice cream and candy shop! That is a must go if you've got a sweet tooth. There are a lot of different old fashioned candy options, and even slush puppies!

I would give negative stars if I could. My daughter was on vacation and bought a personalized coffee mug for me. I contacted the place through Facebook Messenger which is the only way to contact them. I had a fine line crack in the handle which can barely be seen unless you really focus on the crack. I used it the first day it was given to me and went to shake out the cup after I washed it and I could here a squeaking. That is when I realized it had a fine line crack on the handle. I don't fault any party because of the crack because it is difficult to see. I included a picture, but it would have to be expanded on the computer to barely see the crack. However, I asked if they would consider replacing the cup and I would even pay for shipping, because this is a sentimental gift. The first reply was all exchanges are done in the first 24 hours with receipt; kind of hard to do when you are 4 hours away. Not even a hello or sorry to hear about what happened. Their second and fourth reply was that it was not broke when they sold it; well apparently it was broke. The person behind their messages was very rude and claimed he or she was the owner. I would not recommended this place at all!! Good customer service would have done something to remedy this situation.

The manager and employees were nice, but how the hermit crabs are kept is horrible. The kids granddad bought three crabs and they received a dead one. They thought it was sleeping or molting, but it was dead. We went back to return it and found a dead crab in the bin of shells as well. The aquarium they are all kept in is way too small and didn't have anything they need in it. Hermit crabs should not be taken out of the wild, as they can live 20-30 years on their own. Most other beach stores have stopped selling hermit crabs. Time for Colors to stop as well.

So much stuff in tiny quarters that it's hard to socially distanced. HOWEVER!! The ice cream, fudge, candies, etc are DELISH!

Colors is a nice stop for ice cream and memorabilia. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. We have visited every time we come to Emerald Isle and enjoy our visit each time. Ultimately a tourist stop but a fun little ice cream trip for the fam!

If I could give zero stars I would have. The place was a complete wreck! The overwhelming smell of some kind of perfumed spray to mask whatever they are trying to cover up was so strong my eyes starting burning. The isles were so narrow that two people could not not possibly fit. I probably wouldn’t have bothered to even write a review but the over crowding did not just extend to the isles. This place was so over crowded with racks and shelving displays that my husband and I had a hard time just walking without knocking something over or into another person. I have worked in retail a long time and this was the worst I have ever seen or smelled. I am concerned that this could also be a potential fire hazard. There is literally one very small narrow lane going in and out of the store and if there is someone checking out or a line to check out then you’re stuck. Period. We could not even squeeze through to get out and had to wait in a line of people waiting to check out even through we were not purchasing anything because there is no other way out and it was too pack and over crowded to squeeze by the people in line waiting to check out themselves. Worse, there wasn’t a cashier at the register. This place needs to be shut down, it’s not safe at all.
