This gym is not open to guests on weekends. Came to NC for an out of town trip and was glad to see there was a Gold’s I could use. Expect they’re not open. Never been to a Gold’s that limits guest access on weekends.

Let me start by saying that I love this place, I’ve been going to this place for many years but today we had a misunderstanding about the kids cove rules. I started taking my children to the kids cove in January; I added them to my membership 30 dollars a month, I was not given any kids cove rules, the next day one of the kids cove ladies looked for me to tell me that they were going to close the kids cove so I went to get my kids and took a picture of the kids cove scheduled placed on the door. Today one of the kids cove ladies went to look for me again and I was told they only keep kids for 2 hrs , and I was given a warning and I was told that if it happens again they are going to reduce my time 15 mts and also she gave me a kids cove rules paper, pretty nice ladies in the kids cove by the way; So I left since my time was up and called the gym and Sam answered the phone, I asked him why I was not given a kids cove rule paper when I signed my kids? ; his answer was that he had already spoken with me about this issue ; which him and I never had a conversation about the issue previously ; apparently he signed up my kids from what he told me but he never gave me the kids cove rules and only took my money and had me sign up on the computer only , I guess he was in a hurry! I didn’t like the fact that he lied about it, instead of apologizing , he made it seemed like it was my fault, to me that’s very poor customer service skills to be working in the front desk, other than that this is an awesome place, this is the only complaint I have ever had in many year of going to Golds gym. If you signing up for anything at Golds just make sure you ask for rules documents.

The facility has excellent equipment(4/5). This branch continued to bill my card after cancelation (made in person and filling out online cancel document) to which I was told "I did not have anything left to do"- sam(very nice) and made it very difficult to get refund. Never got refund so I had to freeze their request through my credit card. Their response was to threaten that their "charges would go to collections" - (robin)(1/5). Call backs that were promised never occurred. Getting to someone who can solve a problem does not happen. However, the people that use this gym are very pleasant and helpful. (GM: SHARRON) calls back after two weeks to tell me I will not be getting money back. Pure Greed.

I would give 0 starts if I could. The manager likes to engage in power struggles with gym goers. She clearly is not someone who attends the gym regularly, so she has no idea what she is talking about. Very unprofessional. They do not understand what barbells can be used for what lifts. Mid lift they will ask you to change barbells. They breached contract and are engaging in verbal confrontation on social media. When asked to show “rules” they’re attempting to enforce, they were unable to do so. They are absolutely disgusting. Toilets are TAPED together. AC ducts leak on you and your belongings. We have numerous friends who own their own private gyms, and no one agrees with how the manager is conducting business. Very shady. Do not recommend to anyone.

Please take the time to read this novel...This morning I woke up and headed out to the gym like I have most Saturdays of my adult life. I went to Gold's Gym Goldsboro where I warmed up and started my deadlift workout. After my warmup I proceeded back to the deadlift platform where I was met with 315 pounds left on a bar. I then proceeded to clean up the weight left behind. (To be very specific there was a Rogue Deadlift bar on the platform with bumpers and (2) 45-pound plates.) This was on a Rogue Deadlift platform that has rubber flooring for metal plate use.(Background) I do competitive powerlifting and I do not use a Deadlift bar out of season. I had ankle surgery a few years back and I don't have the mobility that i would like in it so a "Straight Bar" Challanges me more at the bottom of the lift and forces ankle flection. This is why I use a Straight bar or commonly known as a "normal Bar".I Proceed to find a Rogue Straight bar that I have Back squatted 625 on multiple times with no issue. I start warming up and was confronted once i had just placed 225 on that bar. The Gentlemen told me that I could not use that bar for deadlift and that I absolutely HAVE to use the Rogue deadlift bar. Now I have never been told this. There were absolutely ZERO signs of this NOR did my contract say anything about this. So me and the gentlemen shared a few works and I requested to cancel my gym membership. Then I spoke to the manager "Sharon" over the phone were she just laughed at me basically and said that I needed to leave if I was not going to "follow the rules and use that bar". I asked them to show me where I signed that rule and they could not provide me with that information. I said then that is breach of contract. I never agreed to that rule. I then said I won't be paying a cancellation fee then and she laughed again.Basically, I just got kicked out of a gym for using the wrong barbell.....This is not how you operate a business, much less a gym. I have MANY MANY friends that own gyms from Emerald Isle, NC to the damn mountains. They do not operate a gym in this manner.I say all of that to say this. If you want to go to a gym and workout as you, please then I would absolutely not go to the Golds gym in Goldsboro, NC. It is an absolute disgrace to the Golds Name.

They have better classes and more Exercise equipment And More Employees willing to help When you first walk in It looks like it doesn't have much but when you walk way into the gym they have a great big huge workout room with a great deal of exercise equipment To choose from And great zumba Instructors And Zumba classes And other Awesome classes And instructors That are willing to stop and show you the Correct way to move to keep you from hurting yourself Just make an appointment if you want to join a gym and they can show you around And it's a cheaper gym to join and have more to pick from for classes and workouts..

Always dirty. They charge a cleaning fee of $60. But it gets clean here and there. Most of the time staff is on their phones. I’ve slipped on debris in the back rooms. Most of the treadmills don’t work. Once I had to jump off the machine cause it would not slow back down. Just no. It’s been the worst gym I’ve ever been too. Most of the leather on equipment is torn and deteriorating. Or missing knobs to adjust machines. You have to find matching weight plates (cause they thought it was smart to buy different types of the same weights)Then you have the owner writing signs all over the gym to not be lazy and pick up after yourself (1. This gym is dirty 2. You have staff insulting customers for leaving weights around???) pick a struggle.Unfortunately, not everyone does. So the weights are scattered all over. It’s like a game of I spy when looking for the weights. But that is why staff is there?? To help organize weights and at least sweep the rooms here and there. Please don’t get me started on how disgusting the bathrooms get…

Great gym for the size. I will say this you can't duplicate the atmosphere for the morning crew and the camps going on in the studios. Anyone can go to the gym and lift weight. This is a culture.
