My move was Oct. 2024 from Jacksonville, NC to MO. First, the coordinating office lacked communication. I had to ask a lot of questions to find out the process, even though those were pieces of info (according to United corp.) that should’ve been explained to me when coordinating the move to begin with.
Second, the movers that packed my things seemed nice and quick. But even though I was watching them, when it came time to unpack there were things thrown in loose and with things that should’ve been kept separate. Example: I had my $2000 TV moved. They packed the screen of the TV with multiple glass picture frames!! The driver that was unpacking my things was in disbelief when he saw that and other items just haphazardly thrown into a box. Nothing was damaged, however given how it was packed I am very lucky. To top it all off, the movers had used the bathroom in the townhome I was moving out from and they clogged it. It doesn’t stop there either, even seeing that it was clogged, multiple other movers used the bathroom and didn’t say anything. I found out after they had left and had to clean up the mess they left behind with little to no equipment since it was all packed. I could not more emphatic in my non-recommendation of this local company contracted via United.
Also fun fact: United makes the truck drivers who deliver your things pay out of pocket for additional help (manpower). So odds are, like in my case, the driver will solo unload/unpack because they’ll make no money if they employ more help (My driver would’ve lost $50 on the trip had he asked for help and made nothing). If you want it to be a quicker process you’ll help (like I did). Paying that much money for a move and having to help do something I paid for is ridiculous and United should be ashamed in asking their contracted drivers to pay out-of-pocket for help.

Gabe and his team were professional, very nice and courteous. A move is very stressful but his team calmed my anxieties. The team really reassembled everything to my satisfaction and placed the boxes where they should have gone. Everyone I encountered from estimate, office staff and team were very nice and helpful. I highly recommend.

Amazing service! Horne Moving Systems packed, loaded, stored, and delivered our items for our military move. Nothing was broken and they took excellent care of our items as if they were their own! Their staff was so friendly! We will request them for our next move!

We were very pleased with Horne Moving Company. We just moved from Pikeville to a new construction home in Goldsboro and they did an AMAZING job. No dents or scratches to my new floors, walls, or furniture. I would definitely recommend. ?

So far so good. Customer service @ the office has been great so far, and they even accommodated our last minute request to get the storage unit here even sooner. By far FAR FAR more affordable than Pack Rat or PODS.

Was very happy with my experience with Horne Moving Systems/ United Moving. What they quoted me was what I paid, communication was easy leading up to and during the move, and the movers were timely and professional. My belongings arrived at their destination 1100 miles away in the same condition they were packed. Would absolutely recommend!

Absolutely the worst... We had a perfect move with our HHG which was shipped from overseas on a SHIP!!! Horne didn’t even have to pack anything bc when inspector came out, he made it seem like it was my responsibility and all they did was load the truck and drive an hour away, so the quality of their service was uncalled for. It took them longer to load and unload a truck than what it took packers at our home overseas to dissemble, pack and load all of our belongings into shipping crates. Our experience with “unloading” was not at all like how we’ve experienced other professional movers unloading. Horne also didn’t even completely and accurately follow any proper labeling order so if items had been misplaced or stolen, there would be no way of knowing until it would be too late. Signing documentation was pointless and I actually refused to sign some of it. They were seriously and extremely unprofessional. So many broken items, rude and constant unprofessional demeanor including playing Candy Crush on their phones while sitting in my house, making personal calls, smoking in and around my home, offering me other services that didn’t pertain to our move. Also, they didn’t unpack, reassemble or take away any debris. Working towards filing claims soon for some of our items. Idk if they only do military moves, but if they do civilian moves, I absolutely would NOT use this company! And yes. I did call and report my experience but got little help. TMO also documented my complaint. Horne only sent out the original inspector to “help” unpack. He came out and put the legs on my new 4K tv’s that were thrown whichever way on my floor. It took me such a long time to unpack by myself (husband is currently deployed) bc they put kitchen stuff in the office, bathroom items in the bedroom, etc. I could barely walk through my house bc of how they literally just placed boxes wherever. Other than a flat response suggesting that I could simply file for a claim, that’s how they “helped” me. Also, they didn’t take all my belongings from the old house, including their own boxes, tape, food/drinks and debris. I literally had to throw out some of my own belongings because I had to turn over my keys that day and had no room in my car with my pets. And even if you are military, you still have to check some of their employees onto base bc they didn’t all have passes! This caused me to be extremely late to my lease signing (2+ hours)! I had to leave my pets sitting in a running car (with blasting AC of course) in 90+ degree weather while I signed them onto base. I felt sick to my stomach the entire time. They kept threatening me that they wouldn’t deliver unless I had the keys to my house, even after the many discussions I had with TMO. It would have been nice to have them be prepared themselves and mostly worth a damn. Grateful that Corvias understood what was going on and was flexible with pushing back my appointment. I’m sure they’re simply use to it at this point.

You absolutely can't go wrong if you choose Horne. When we were gathering information on various types of moving options, and speaking with numerous businesses, Horne stood out from the rest. Kim Howard answered the phone the first time I phoned and she answered tons of questions I had, she was polite to begin with and continued to be extremely polite and helpful throughout the entire process. The moving team she sent to our house on move day were on time, communicated every detail, protected our house well, worked quickly and we all had a great time because they were so awesome. An answer to many prayers actually. Using them and United was a sheer blessing all the way!! Spot on from beginning to the very end. Thank you all!

I was astounded by the rudeness of Kim Howard the general manager of Horne Storage Co. She yelled repeatedly on the phone and refused to give her supervisor's name. Instead of assisting the customer, she continued to raise her voice and cite regulations which clearly did not allow the delivery of my house hold goods. The lack of thought was disappointing. It takes a truly educated mind to understand when certain situations are not covered or are hindered, versus blindly regurgitating memorized sentences. Kim Howard is lacking in the ability. I am a paying customer, even if it is a military contract. I called with a one week of lead time and was unable to have my request serviced. Instead of easing the process and assisting with a delivery timeline, I was continually yelled at as she explained that it was too complicated to divulge a delivery time. Her loud and extremely high pitched voice continued to screech that I was going to have to just deal with it and find an appropriate day. As I continued to explain my scheduling conflicts, along with my appropriate amount of lead time regarding the issue, she threatened me with punitive action from my commander. As a single working professional, reliant on the generosity of help from friends and family, the inability to narrow down timelines is amusingly disconcerting. The company is unable to operate with any amount of forward thinking or planning with regard to delivery times. UPS, FedEx, and USPS don't seem to have a problem with the issue.
