High suggest when buying a car take it to an independent garage for a once over. Purchased a car and when I went to change the oil I noticed who ever had the car prior ran over something and damaged the exhaust and the exhaust hanger. This wasnt disclosed before purchase by store even though a mechanic would have seen this since it was supposedly given an oil change and inspected.

my retired parents had a car brought to this Carmax. not to mention you have to PAY Carmax to just look at it because they had to get it from another Carmax. let's make a note here and understand ..... so they are wanting to purchase a car from this lot and your charging them to just bring over for CARMAX and can make money. ok they were fine with that ---so they take the car for 24 hours just to make sure it's ok. when they did the transmission was very jerky. we let their normal mechanic look at it and ride with them. he said, something for sure going on. I wouldnt buy this car. so my dad returned it the next day. They had every intention to purchase UNTIL they kept over night and drove. when he took it back the next day. he told them why he wasn't going to get it. they refuse to even give half back on the $175 of a messed up vehicle. if they would have at least gave my parents half back they would have maybe thought to keep shopping there. that is very poor customer service and for sure a way not to get a customer to come back. never again will I nor my parents do business with this Carmax. they got a beautiful car at Jerry Hunt Supercenter. great customer service I recommend to anyone looking for a good vehicle. First of all YOU DO NOT GET A FAIR DEAL with CarMax AT ALL since they mark up the vehicles outrageously above market value, no matter how shameful it may be, that is how they make their money. The pictures they take of the cars are very amateurish and a joke. Some you can tell they have not been cleaned thoroughly despite their "impeccable inspection practice" they advertise. Trash is still in them and smears and smudges do not accentuate positive selling points. They even took pictures of cars that actually had flat tires to show the public on their website! They are in too big of a hurry to get the cars out on the lot. What I find interesting is that some of the lower mileage cars have more damage than the ones with higher mileage. (?) The cars that I have experienced seeing are being sold with in their words no more than 25% body damage and that is "OK" as long as it's below a certain "line". You can see the cars are damaged even if there is no CarFax report listing them as being in an accident, and yet they still mark them up as if they are not damaged. Their idea of "touchup" paint makes them look worse. Oh yeah here's a thought, fix the damage and REALLY mark them up!! At least someone might feel better about buying a car here. Also I would advise NOT getting a warranty from them (overpriced as well) considering the reviews of their service department. They don't offer many options other than them to get it fixed other than Precision Tune. Really? I guess it's not about convenience. I'd rather pay the people just around the corner from me as I always have. Don't bother telling me to contact someone. Does it make YOU feel better in some way in doing so, because you repeat the same response over and over and yet the negative reviews keep coming despite you "striving for best customer service". Bollocks!!!

This purchase was the easiest & BEST buy I have ever experienced. I wanted to purchase an orange Jeep Wrangler for my wife Sandee for over a year & a half, but every time I found an orange Jeep Wrangler , someone else purchased it before I could take her to see it for approval. This time, Carmax brought the Jeep from Fayetteville, NC to Greensboro, NC for us to see. The salesman told us they would keep the Jeep for a week while we were seeking financing & completing other details. I even sought out a huge Red Ribbon for the hood of the Jeep since it was almost Christmas; I could give her the ultimate Christmas present. I couldn’t find a Red Ribbon for the hood, but upon arrival to Carmax, I noticed that there was a HUGE YELLOW RIBBON on the Hood of the Jeep! Sandee came with me to pick up her Jeep. I made one request to Sandee before telling her it was her Christmas present: I asked to drive it off the lot, because I knew when we got home, I would NOT get to drive it again without a struggle. Sandee allowed me to drive it off the lot. When we got home, I finally said, “Merry Christmas, Sandee!” She has been the happiest person in EVERY SITUATION since! I even LOVE her Jeep! I’m a Chevy person, but I am thinking of purchasing another Jeep in the Summer of ‘24! Thank you Carmax for helping me make 2023 Christmas the best for my wife
