I've made it a habit to peruse local comics shops when I travel. Flew in to Greensboro from Los Angeles for a wrestling event and found this gem of a comic store near the end of my visit. A lovely and quaint comic shop for current readers, those casually looking for old back issues, and collectors of vintage/key issues displayed behind the counter wall. Very old school, down to the uncanny smell of books, paper, and ink. The greatest draw for this shop, however, is John. He was manning the store the day I visited. Not only a comics enthusiast, but also a Greensboro native and a wrestling historian with mountains of wrestling stories lost to annals of time. The small chat we had was worth the visit alone; the deal he gave me on a Daredevil #34 served as lovely garnish. Thanks again, John. I'll be sure to check out any Johnny Valentine footage I can find.

The store was small but had some really great items. The guy behind the counter was great. But my negative expierence came from a guy I assume was working or visiting off to the side drinking coffee. I got asked if my name was a stage name. It was incredibly rude and uncomfortable. I understand weird things can happen rarely as a female in a comic book store. But I felt as though this was extremely sexist and uncalled for. I love what I got but I most likely will not return.

This is my place of zen, when life and work get too stressful I goto Parts Unknown. granted I stop in when I have some free time too, but seriously I'm so thankful for this shop. I absolutely love this store, its a legit comic shop, and the gentleman that runs it is the purest comic enthusiast I've ever met. A true collector and purist in every way. He has had the honor to meet the greats, but not only them but THE greatest of all...the legend, Mr. Jack Kirby (which he has a specific area dedicated to in the shop). I don't get to visit as often as I'd like, but can't ever wait to be able to stop in and enjoy some great conversation while I enjoy searching thru the large inventory of back issues he has (which by the way, are priced honestly and just right so don't think that you may be able to find a better price because I doubt you will). Even if by some chance you could find cheaper, which I haven't found (i just check key values from time to time), I'd rather support his shop in a way of thanks for being there, keeping it real, and being the cool shop owner and sharing such awesome experiences with us. Just like the good ol' days. Stop in and check it out, the only regret you'll have is not being able stay longer and enjoy the shop.

Since I was a kid who learned of his own love and interest in the comic book medium as a way of escaping reality and as an means of satisfying my need to collect things as is my nature John Hitchcock has been a person in my life I looked up to and was comfortable with receiving so much of my own personal income. I always felt he was honest and kind when compared to others I had interacted with in my time as an avid collector of all things comic book. Eventually as a you g adult we even formed a friendship that I still hold to this day even as I have gotten so far from an active comic book reader or customer. I still have a desire and itch to read them and do in a digital format nowadays and just don't have the disposable income of my earlier adulthood to justify the cost of even a single newsprint comic but I definitely am and will always be a friend and avid supporter of Parts Unknown and it's owner John. He took me a long on conventions and sold me my most desired issues (Anything Wolverine)lol. He even nicknamed me bodyguard because I stuck around one evening when a visitor in the store gave me a weird vibe and turns out that it was probably a life saving hunch as the guy was hiding a firearm under his coat and also the phone wires had been cut outside the business. This was pre cellphone days as a guaranteed item we all carry. So I landlines are a thing you remember then you know how important it was to have in those days. Anyway thanks for all the memories and I hope all kids that like me, who weren't interested in reading about reality in the spare time, find and also learn the ins and outs from you as I did. Make mine marvel and Hitchcock is a patron saint of funny books

Best Comic Book opener since ZapLove the ownerThe location is right next to a cycle storeThis place has tons of hidden gems and some real classics from the 1950's space explores to Marvels from every era and planet. The only better comic book stores I have found are Time Warp in Boulder and ACME plus a few comic cons and a real gem of a shop in Fort Collins in Colorado that the owner of Parts Unknown should look up. This shop is classic with some great music playing every time I pop in. Awesome experience and super kind gentleman ownership. Very grateful to have some illustrated inspiration on my block!Archie to ZapCheck out Black Hawk, old Wolverine, Guardians of the Galaxy, Justice League, The Green Lantern Series, and Vamperilla along with the other beautiful heroines....Need more realistic Animal comics for the Dinosaurs amoung us!!!Thanks,Kellen

Stopped by today searching for a certain comic. They didn't have it (noone does apparently), but did have a nice conversation with the owner and found some other comics to buy. Lots of back issues and older Mad and Heavy Metal mags, which I thought were really cool. Couldn't stay long, but definitely could've spent hours in there digging through boxes.

A nice little spot, with a great selection of back issues, but the guy working that day kinda talked down to me and acted like I didn't know what I was talking about with a new release I was looking for. I've been into comics for more than 30 yrs lol.

John is one of the most influential minds when it comes to comics, he can easily pin point what kind of stuff you're looking for if you tell him your preference. An amazing store and an even better person. Highly recommend

This place is AWESOME…best comic book store ever! Not a “corporate” store, but a true independent place with great comics (and more). Great prices too, and even better customer service. Do yourself a favor and visit Parts Unknown!
