They are about to upgrade the main visitor building here and I think they will likely earn the 4th star then. It's mainly old historic buildings here too see. They have some interesting artifacts from the time period also. This town was one of the most important towns in NC back then. Some very important history was made here in the effort to break from England and independence.I will say there probably is not allot for kids here unless they are true history buffs. Adults are more likely to appreciate the historic importance of this town that really hasn't change all that much in layout. They do have tours here at very reasonable prices.

Our family enjoyed this little museum. We arrived too late to go into the other buildings, but can go back later. Even just driving around to see them was neat. The Underground Railroad trail was open and thoughtful. It's only a 1/4 mile walk, but you can also drive down there. There's a bench overlooking the river. There's a house right next to the sitting area, though, so that was a little weird.

I enjoy visiting when the buildings are open and there are people dressed up acting the part of townspeople. There is plenty of walking but if you can't walk well you can get to most of it in a car.

Incredible history of our nation here in Halifax North Carolina. North Carolina became the first State to take official action towards independence from Great Britain. The Halifax Resolve was a name given to the resolution adopted by North Carolina on April 12, 1776. It was here that 83 delegates of the Fourth Provincial Congress laid the groundwork for the signing of the Declaration of Independence less than three months later. The State flag of North Carolina has the date of April 12, 1776 on it because of the Halifax Resolve. The visitor center is incredible and the ladythere gave usa tremendous amount of information about Halifax and the Halifax Resolve. The various buildings in the area are beautiful restored and gives you the feeling of being there. This place is on the National Register of Historic Places.

This little town has a lot of history to offer. The people at the visitor's center were friendly and very helpful. Most of the sites are a self guided tour but we did do a tour of the Burgess law office. We learn a lot if information from our guide about life in the 1700. I highly recommend visiting if you are ever in this area. It's just a short distance off I 95.

This is a very nice historical town but don’t try to tour at 4:00. We were pretty much kicked out of the Tavern at 4:10. The lady was not very nice. They are supposed to close at 5 but the buildings close earlier. The museum was very interesting. Also, the restaurant Hen and Hog is great but they open at 5:30. It would be easier for tourists if it opened at 5 since the town pretty much closes at 5. All in all a nice visit.

A nice historic little town fun to walk around, see the museum , take the guided tour, and if the rain hadn't started we'd probably still be there

This was amazing. My family lives near by and during the holidays we took a tour. The site sits in the middle of a neighborhood. We we went it was very quiet and only one other family touring. It is self-guided but on days with more staff you can sign up for a guided tour. It is free to enter but there is a suggested donation box in the visitor's center. The experience starts with a video telling you about the history. After that you are free to tour. The staff at the desk gave us a map which highlighted the trails. Some places were open to walk in while others you could only look from outside. If you are a history buff or just want to learn more this is a must see. It truly reminds us of how history was for some people.
