“Family Jewels is one of the true “gems” of Hatteras Island. I have purchased my favorite pieces of jewelry there over the years, including necklaces, bracelets, and earings hand-made by the owner. Many are composed of beads fabricated, designed, and painted by her. I have received many, many compliments over time on the beauty of these pieces.Recently my favorite necklace from Family Jewels broke (after 7 years of repeated wearing!!!), and I brought it in to the store so I could pay the owner to repair it. She restrung the beads and when I picked up the repaired necklace I found it to be even prettier now than it was when I bought it. She refused to charge me a penny, since she had made the item and I had purchased it from her.What a wonderful service! “Unique pottery and art. The Seaworthy Gallery is a lot larger than it looks. From photography, to cards, pottery and paintings. Very interesting souvenirs most of which are from NC artists. They also sell lotions, stuffed toys, puzzles and other items one might buy while staging a house or while on vacation. Definitely a must for a girls shopping day out away from children and husbands ?”
